Beautiful autumn hike to the “Mason Waterfall” 🥾🍁🌞🌞. Since the hiking trail to the waterfall is open again after a lengthy closure (danger of falling rocks) (information from the Alpine Association), this natural monument is my hiking destination today. The hike started in Ausserbraz at the “Trabe” inn. After about 200m of main road I follow the Lötscherweg, which is already mostly in the sun🌞👍. The path is well signposted and leads up through mountain meadows and beech/coniferous forests. The path is a nature trail and you can find out a lot of interesting facts about the Klostertal on numerous signs. From the Boden waypoint the path becomes a little more demanding and is closed in winter due to the risk of avalanches and falling rocks. The slightly steeper climb (approx. 45 minutes) to the waterfall begins at the Laschei waypoint. The path ends at a bench and the waterfall book. If you walk a few meters further to the stream bed (crawl 🙂) you can see the waterfall clearly 👍. The waterfall has a drop height of 80m and is drawn from the Mason spring, which rises about 300 meters behind the waterfall on the Masonalpe. Up to the Laschei waypoint, the descent is like ascent. From there I continue on the freight road towards Innerbraz - Tobel to the bus stop. The nature trail (total walking time approx. 3 hours) is also suitable for families with its many benches for “resting and relaxing” as well as the many educational signs. However, the climb to the waterfall is not that easy and was a bit slippery today due to the wetness (frost at night). It was a wonderful autumn hike🍁🥾 with a great mountain panorama of the already snow-covered ⛄️mountains such as the Roggelskopf, Gamsfreifeit, Elser Spitze etc.👍
Today we started in Innerbraz - the Mason waterfall was our destination. We first made a small detour to the Alfenz and over Außerbraz. Then we slowly went uphill, past two more waterfalls, which could only be admired from a distance. The paths were easy to walk, but it became more strenuous when we came to the "Mason waterfall 50 minutes" junction. I already suspected it, 50 minutes for about 1 km - that can be long. And that's how it was, it went steadily uphill, over stones, roots, always the slope on the side. When I got to the top, I was a little disappointed. There wasn't much to see, we also saw similar rippling in the streams. But according to the signs, the path ended here. But the only 2 hikers we saw today ventured a few meters further up the mountain and were at least able to take a look at the whole waterfall. So we climbed a few meters further and were somewhat rewarded. Of course we then had to walk the 50 minute walk back, I found it a bit more strenuous going downhill. Well, whether it's worth it is something everyone has to decide for themselves, I wouldn't go up the path to the waterfall a second time - especially since we had some very nice waterfall experiences on our afternoon walk.
