Trail Reviews

Gertie
November 30, 2024, Mt Field National Park: Lady Barron Falls and Tall Trees Walk (Tasmania)

A most beautiful walk from the visitors centre where there is ample free parking and a nice café. We had overnight rain, so the various waterfalls were showing off! We also walked along the tall tree trail. These eucalyptus trees are enormous! They grow to jawdropping heights. A very pleasant walk on our way from Hobart to Strahan on the West Coast.

Today our tour took us through Mount Field National Park, past waterfalls and the huge, ancient swamp gums, eucalyptus and lots of tree ferns. The first part of the trail from the Visitor Center to Russell Falls was quite well attended and landscaped. After that, the path became more original and only a few hikers came towards us.

Today we visited our last national park in Tasmania, Mount Field National Park. We walked the Tall Tree with its 70 - 90m high eucalyptus trees and the waterfalls Russel Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Lady Barron Falls. The path was excellent to walk. Since this was also a jungle-like biotope, we stocked up on sunscreen and mosquito repellent. The whole hike smelled of eucalyptus and we could only marvel at these huge trees.
