Wineglass Bay Lookout

Highlight • Viewpoint

This purpose-built lookout provides the park’s signature view over the perfectly curved shoreline and turquoise water of Wineglass Bay. Set on the saddle between the Hazards peaks, it offers an elevated panoramic vantage point, framed by granite mountains and dense coastal bushland. The spacious viewing platform includes seating and railings, making it a comfortable place to pause and take in one of Tasmania’s most iconic coastal vistas.

Wineglass Bay Track

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Wineglass Bay Track is impressively well-maintained, with stone steps, guardrails, clear signage, and jaw-dropping viewpoints. The boulder fields have interestingly shaped giant stones that really invoke the imagination.

Wineglass Bay Beach

Highlight • Beach

Wineglass Bay on Tasmania's Freycinet Peninsula is considered one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world. The crescent-shaped beach of pearly white sand, lapped by sapphire blue seawater against a backdrop of pink and grey granite cliffs, is one of Australia's most stunning natural regions.
Definitely worth a visit.

Hazards Beach Track

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Hazards Beach Track forms the southern leg of the circuit, linking Wineglass Bay with the long, quieter shoreline of Hazards Beach. The route crosses low coastal woodland and sandy sections behind the dunes, offering a contrast to the granite scenery on the Wineglass Bay side. It is roughly 4 kilometres between the beaches and is a peaceful stretch of walking with opportunities for wildlife sightings and plenty of ocean views.

Beautiful hike through a fragrant eucalyptus forest. The hike is very well signposted with a beach. It is important to bring a hat, sunscreen and mosquito repellent. It is swarming with mosquitoes

Okay, something completely different 😀 🇦🇺 without a bike and on the other side of the world, a beautiful, absolutely stunning hike through Freycinet National Park, Tasmania. And of course, we went swimming in Wineglas Bay 🏊🏼‍♂️.

The track between Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach was very muddy and hard to come through. So choose your shoes wisely 😁.

Only recommend if it's not wet!. You can do this track both ways. And looking forward swimming in the wineglass - 👙

Really very beautiful national park in Tasmania, Australia. It was August (winter), but that day it was sunny with 12 degrees and there was no wind. Very nice weather to enjoy nature. The first third of the tour is also designed for car tourists, very wide path, many benches leading to a viewpoint, while the last third was technically demanding, some wet rocks near the cliffs may not be for everyone. But really breathtaking deserted coasts and forests. Recommendation goes out!

Plenty parking bays available, but it is a very popular spot, so can get very busy! We hiked a loop and only the first 2km, as far as the Lookout, it was busy. After that, hardly any people. Walking through tea tree bush, a stretch along a marsh and a stretch along the beach - where I went for a great swim in the Tasman Sea! More trail walking after that through the bush, just above the shoreline. Fabulous trail, stunning views. So worth your while.

Freycinet National Park is one of the most famous places in Tasmania. Wineglass Bay in particular is one of the highlights. The beach is said to be among the top ten best beaches in the world. Now that it's autumn, the number of visitors isn't that big anymore, but the parking lot was almost full when we arrived at 9:30 am. However, most people only walked the first leg to the lookout. We were there yesterday in the rain, today we were allowed to enjoy the scenery in the sunshine. On the further way we only met other hikers here and there. The coast is beautiful, the bushes and trees always gave a view of the sea. Many lizards scurried over the rocks, birds could be heard but rarely seen. We took a break and picnic halfway at Hazard Beach. Then we continued along the coast, a bit up and down, now and then over small streams and mostly through bush land. All in all a nice, relaxed round.

Nice hike for about 3 to 5 hours, depending how long you want to rest at the beach. I highly recommend propper hiking boots, since main parts of the path are of rough stones. Bring one Liter of water, enough sunscreen and a hat, since the water all around the path reflects much of the sun. I chosed to start early before 8 am and walked straight to Wineglas Bay. That way the beach was neatly empty. If you walk to the other direction you will arrive with the majority of tourists. After 10/11 am is the time where most of the tourists arrive. Parking fees are around 46 Dollar, so if you are in a group it's worth not going with separate cars.
