Road cycling route through the Baden Hügelland (high country)

This road cycling loop starting in Eppingen is for you if you love the ups and downs and aren't afraid of a good amount of elevation gain. The route takes you right through the heart of the Kraichgau region and shows you exactly what the rolling hills of Baden are all about: short ramps, longer climbs, and plenty of sections where you have to find and maintain your rhythm.

Right from the start, the route climbs steeply towards Hilsbach via Richen. The profile constantly alternates between climbs and short recovery periods – ideal for quickly getting into a steady cadence. After Eichelberg, the route opens up a bit before you roll along long, sweeping bends towards Odenheim.

The first real test awaits you on the climb from Unteröwisheim to Heidelsheim. This climb is long and demands precise pacing – it pays to manage your speed well here. In Heidelsheim, you can take a break at Café Servus Anni. The café is well-located, road bike-friendly, and perfect for a short breather.

After Eichelberg, the route opens up a bit before you roll along long, sweeping bends towards Odenheim. After the break, you'll initially pick up the pace towards Diedelsheim before the gradient increases again. Several climbs will demand your concentration and strength before the landscape gradually opens up. The route then leads back towards Eppingen via Büchig – accompanied by typical Kraichgau views of hills and fields. A ride that doesn't give you anything for free – but precisely for that reason gives you so much in return.
