The Risdoux route is a typical Ardennes circuit, meaning it's very steep as it climbs from the banks of the Meuse River before leveling out. The landscape is naturally dominated by forest, with several viewpoints overlooking the river's famous meanders.
The beginning of the route encapsulates all of this. The climb starts within the first few kilometers, sometimes requiring you to dismount. Your effort is nevertheless rewarded with several views of the Meuse's meanders, particularly the one surrounding the town of Fumay. Once at the top, the rest of the route takes you into the heart of the Ardennes forest.
It's only in the final kilometers that the view opens up again, as you reach the right bank of the Meuse near the Château du Risdoux. A pleasant greenway then leads you back to the starting point.
