Nature aplenty – today we hiked around Wernsdorf through forests, meadows, and charming half-timbered villages. A mix of sun and clouds included, and the mood was great! And as always: At the end, Schiller awaits with cold beer and delicious food. Same procedure as every hike. 🍻🌳🥾
Through the idyllic Zeegenbach Valley: Water, woods, and meadows – from Amlingstadt to Zeegendorf. The Franconian Tuscany offers a new and well-marked hiking trail through the Zeegenbach Valley near Strullendorf. Starting at the picturesque church in Amlingstadt, this idyllic circular route leads through the open landscape of the Zeegenbach Valley and the charming beech and mixed forests of the Swabian Alb escarpment. The trail takes you through traditional Franconian villages, from Amlingstadt via Roßdorf am Forst, Leesten, Mistendorf, Zeegendorf, and Wernsdorf. Several inns, beer cellars, and a brewery invite you to take a hearty break. Information on local history and natural history can be found along the way. The historic mill in Leesten, a former watermill dating back to the 18th century, is well worth a visit. The water required to operate the mill wheel was diverted from the Zeegenbach stream by means of dams at the stone weir. The remains of the former millrace can still be seen on the slope above the mill.
...beautiful tour, the first half of which has the character of a panoramic path. From the water tower the view stretched to Banz Monastery. The former Leesten water mill is in such an idyllic location; it no longer seems inhabited - although the little spot is longing to be revived; I could easily imagine a mill cafe there. The last part was more on wide forest paths and therefore not quite as nice. But the birdsong and the sun made up for it. Schlumbi had fun again and was allowed to run freely in front.
After looking at the (how could it be any different this spring...) rather mixed weather forecast for the weekend yesterday evening, it was clear that the alarm clock had to ring damn early in the morning again, so that I could at least enjoy the promised beautiful sunrise hours during my Ründlas planned for today in the Zeegenbachtal from Amlingstadt (district of Bamberg) would be able to enjoy! ⏰️🥱➡️🥾⚪️🇨🇭🔴 And indeed, the morning sky showed up while I happily hiked through the very idyllic Zeegenbachtal, which is highly recommended for nature and landscape lovers (only the monotonous way back through the forest felt a bit long...), at its best and delightfully colorful site; simply terrific the many prospects & distant views of the landscape of Franconian Tuscany peppered with apple trees in full bloom and golden-yellow radiant rapeseed fields! 🌄🐐♻️🖼💦🌼🌳🌸🏰👌🏼 ⚪️That's bass already!🔴👍🏼
Today we have planned a tour near Bamberg, the Zeegenbachtalrunde. A well signposted circular hiking trail with a length of approx. 15 km and an altitude difference of 300 metres. A nice tour, which we shortened a bit because the rain surprised us - fortunately there was a bus stop nearby for shelter. Everything else from the official description. Of course, after the round we had to shoot another one in Bamberg. As a native Franconian and motorcyclist, I know Franconian Switzerland, but I didn't know Franconian Tuscany until today. We started at the church in Amlingsstadt and then the old army road to Roßdorf am Forst. reading. There, a detour through the village and then again on the official route, which is perfectly signposted by the way, further on to Leeste and to Mistendorf. There the drizzle increased again and we sheltered in a bus stop just in time before a really heavy shower came down. Since there is no bus on Sunday, we decided to shorten the tour at least a little. So directly up to the beautifully situated pilgrimage chapel Steinknock and then via Wernsdorf back to the starting point. Conclusion: Despite the very mixed weather, a very nice tour.
