On Leo's Adventure Trail, you can easily motivate your kids to hike, explore, and marvel – all against the breathtaking panorama of the Leogang mountains. The adventure trail starts right at the mountain station of the Asitz or Steinberg cable car.
Along the trail, you'll find numerous stations that invite your children to climb, balance, and let loose. Experience a beautiful circular hike that leads to the summit of the Großer Asitz at 1,914 meters and to the open-air cinema on the Sonnkogel, offering stunning views. The adventure trail is open from July until approximately the end of September or beginning of October (weather permitting).
Tip: Attention all quiz and puzzle enthusiasts! The new puzzle hunt along the adventure trail is perfect for anyone who enjoys solving riddles, playing games, and winning. At each station, you'll find a board with a quiz question. Do you know the answer? Then write the corresponding letter on the provided answer card – this will reveal the solution word.
... With a fully and correctly completed puzzle card, you will receive a nice surprise at the ticket office of the mountain railways and can participate with your family in a great prize draw at Austria's coolest family mountains.

This route was planned by komoot.
We ran this distance with an 11 month old baby. This route is very easy to do with a baby carrier but also with a stroller with good wheels. The view / the panorama is awesome. When you arrive at the top of the Scharbergkogel summit cross at 1888 m, you have a wonderful view of the Großglockner. From there the panorama path leads to 1914 m where you can marvel at the Watzmann in the northeast and the Wilder Kaiser in the northwest. The entire mountain area is beautifully built with a play area for children from 3-14 years. The panoramic circular path borders the play path / children's rally. It takes about 2 hours in total. At the upper mountain station, we then earned a break with Kaiserschmarren and crust roast. Gorgeous !!!
This tour offers a fantastic panorama, including views of the Großglockner, the Ankogel, and the Sonnblick.
Small playgrounds for children with great play equipment can be found regularly along the way.
Today finally a little rain break ... quickly with the Asitzbahn up and on the Panoramaweg (because of the rain clouds this time unfortunately without the otherwise wonderful view) over the great Asitz (1,914m) over the Scharbergkogel (1,888m) and the Geierkogel ( 1,853m) back to the mountain station of the Asitzbahn. Then it started to rain again ... but still a nice little tour.
Parking: Free when taking the train with the Steinbergbahn (5€ with the Asitzbahn and the Saalfelden Card) Train ride: Free with the Saalfelden Card Footwear: Category A/B We took the train up to the Asitz mountain station. The weather was perfect for us. Everything in the valley was covered in fog and up there the weather was beautiful. Due to the aftermath of Covid, we are making very slow progress. Our fitness is still abysmal. That makes us really sad, but we can do it 💪 At first there was quite a lot going on on the Panoramaweg (play opportunities for children with trampolines, etc.). After the first summit (Geierkogel) we were almost alone. The views were fantastic. You could even see the southern peak of the Watzmann (photos 17 & 18). The view of the Hohe Tauern and the Großglockner were also breathtaking. After the first summit you only had to climb a few meters. Due to our fitness, we didn't want to go straight up to the Asitz because the gradient would have been too steep. So we extended the elevation gain and went back over the Asitz. This circuit with four peaks is very easy and can be done by almost anyone.
