Hohe Hahnscheid (High Rooster) Wäller Tour

My first tour in the Westerwald, and I have to say that Lied is right when he says: "Oh, you beautiful Westerwald, the wind whistles so cold over your heights." 😂 It was really cold wind today. The tour starts at the old town hall in Irmtraut, but there are only a few parking options here. After the start, we first go through rustic forests. A little up and down, then the second third leads through the most beautiful part of the hike. The Holzbachschlucht, always along the stream to Hofgut Dammrich. We recommend taking a break in the farm cafe. From here you go up to the St. Michael Josef Chapel, where you will be rewarded with a great view. The rest of the path leads back and forth through meadows and pastures back to the starting point. All in all a nice hike. 🤗

The tour begins at the Catholic Church of Maria Gebet von Irmtraut, leads around the basalt hill Hohe Hahnscheid and through the Holzbachschlucht. There are three cemeteries, three chapels, five wayside shrines and three crosses on the tour. It is a beautiful devotional tour through forest and meadows.

Collecting makes you happy. Collecting is addictive. At least that's how I feel when hiking. 😚 Whether on the dream trails or here in the Westerwald with the Wäller tours, it's like a Panini album. Once you start, you want to have them all. 😅 Today's tour took us through the Holzbachschlucht, which is currently very water-rich. Informative boards line the path. You don't have to write much. ✍️ Only Komoot unnecessarily enriched the tour with a number of dropouts and outliers. I haven't had that for a long time. 🙄

First hike of the year. Every weather has its charm 🙂. Hiked the tour clockwise. Beautiful tour through the Holzbachschlucht, only the last part of Seck back is unspectacular. Here you can also proceed according to the motto "The shortest connection between two points is a straight line". At the end of the tour my recording was up and by the time it was running again I was further along, hence the straight line. Start and end point is A.

Unfortunately the weather let us down a bit today. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed the hike.
