This route was planned by komoot.
For quite some time I've been planning the complete cycle ring around Erfurt and today the "adventure journey" began...🚲 The journey began near the Erfurt airport with the "departure" and to be more precise, at the nearby signs towards "Elxleben". Passing horses and beautifully decorated Easter decorations in a bathtub, I quickly discovered the first Radring sign. My "runway" was the long stretch in the direction of Tiefthal and of course it went really well. I cycled through Elxleben past the ever-beautiful Schewellenburg and unfortunately I had to use Komoot for the first time because there were no signs. We continued on the Gera cycle path via Mittelhausen and Stotterheim in the direction of the very popular Lago di Alpi (Alperstedter See). Always fantastically beautiful and there was a lot going on at the ThürKies campsite...🛫🏞️ After the Alpterstedter Ried I took a new and very relaxed route to Großrudestedt. In Schwannsee, the path led me through the local "grove" and onto the well-known Pave' Udestedt (a kind of Paris-Roubaix cobblestone route). A decent challenge and if a screw was loose - no matter who or what, the issue was settled afterwards. In Udestedt there is always a beautiful (Easter) decoration at the entrance/exit and this ml even the "last unicorn", always very amusing. My tour continued in the direction of Kerspleben along various fields and cycle paths (underground) to Walllichen, where agriculture can be seen from both sides. On the one hand, the tractors that work the soil and thus cultivate the fields, and on the other hand, the "poison injections", which not only I "breathed in" well on the bike path...🧱🔩🚜 At Eichelborn there was again the second colorfully planted bathtub to admire. From here the Radring led me to Klettbach, which is known for its very beautiful (Easter) decorations and once again showed itself from its best side - it's just nice that the people of Klettbach attach so much importance to it and that their village is really " prettify". In addition, I even discovered a passenger bench and immediately used it as a bench for a short break. From Klettbach, the bike ring unfortunately continues on the only muddy stretch and many tire tracks also indicated a good number of cyclists who "queried through" here. I also discovered the second moving "poison syringe" at work shortly before Schellroda. Shortly after entering the village there was again a very nice (Easter) decoration. At the end of the town, the cycle ring continues towards the center of Thuringia in Rockhausen, past agricultural machinery and the local forest. There is currently a construction site in Molsdorf, but it is completely possible for cyclists to drive through - the same in Neudietendorf...🌼🐣🚧 Before the "arrival" again at Erfurt Airport and thus the end of the cycle ring, I enjoyed a great, very beautiful view over the fields just before Großrettbach. Although my tour here is only limited to the complete cycle ring, it is usually necessary to "travel" from the city center or similar. As a result, my tour was almost 125km at the end of the day, which was definitely worth it due to the different Erfurt outlying areas and the many great agricultural signs (there are 25 information boards in total). The recommendation would be to drive counterclockwise next time, because the signs tended to be that way...🛬🤓 Conclusion: A great experience, which made my "cycling trip" varied and informative, especially during spring and Easter...😎
Today it worked again. Flat tire in the forest just before Bechstedt-Wagd. The mosquitoes were also happy about this change.
I have published a more detailed description of the tour here: https://ich-liebe-erfurt.de/radring-erfurt/
The tour starts at the Erfurt Zoo and went from Stotternheim to the Erfuter cycle path. I didn't take any pictures this time. If pictures are requested, I would be happy to do the tour again. (with those :) ) So that everyone can imitate the tour, the tour ends again at the Erfurt Zoopark.
After everyone has already driven it, I made it today too 😀.
The cycle ring is a beautiful and well-signposted cycle path. However, there are no rest stops in the north, and none at all for 25 km. There isn't a single emergency service station along the entire ring, and therefore no charging options for bikes with smaller batteries. But otherwise, it's highly recommended.
I've wanted to do the lap for a long time. The cycle ring runs as a continuous cycle path around Erfurt. Unfortunately not suitable for racing bikes, as there are many cobblestones and dirt roads.
The Radring Erfurt, I rode it now, which is the end of it. The signage is quite good so far but still has potential. Some sections don't exactly make you want to be ridden more often. Will I drive it again 🤔 not in the version.
