Conero Regional Park Loop from Ancona

Cycling

This cycling tour experience, designed for slow and sustainable mobility, combines the dynamism of Ancona with the magic of the Conero Riviera.

The starting point of the Tour is near the sea in Marcelli. You immediately start climbing towards the two jewel towns of the Conero Park: ascend to reach Numana, which offers an iconic view of the Conero plunging into the sea, and Sirolo, the "Pearl of Conero", with its historic center and some unparalleled panoramas.

The road towards Ancona alternates asphalt sections with a stretch of white road with ups and downs, immersing you in the Mediterranean scrub. Don't forget to stop at the Monument to the Fallen, an imposing symbol of peace.

After Ancona, the Tour immediately gains altitude on a scenic white road where you will have a spectacular sighting of Monte Conero. Before closing the loop, continue along the cart track, between light and relaxing ups and downs that lead you to Camerano, the "Underground City", famous for its sandstone-carved caves and home to the prized Conero red wine.

The Monument to the Fallen of World War I is located in Piazza IV Novembre, in the Passetto area; in Ancona, it is simply known as "the Monument." It is located at the end of Viale della Vittoria and is connected to the Passetto beach below by a wide staircase that divides into two semicircular ramps.

It was designed in the 1920s, along with the Passetto Staircase, by Ancona-born architect Guido Cirilli in the form of a circular temple (monopteros) featuring an elegantly reinterpreted Doric order. The structure, with eight fluted columns, sits atop a concentric circular staircase and is made entirely of Istrian stone. The base is decorated with helmets and swords, symbols of defense and attack, respectively. A small altar stands at the center.
