Trip with children with Don Lorenzo's mass at the top; on the occasion of the Zerbion Festival
From Antagnod Barmasc where you leave the car to take the path that leads to the summit of Monte Zerbion passing through Col Portola and crossing spectacular flora and admiring the Monte Rosa glacier on one side and the peak of Monte Emilius on the other. At the top, the statue of the Madonna embraces hikers who can catch their breath by looking in every direction.
We climbed in 2h18m with stops to catch our breath (a 30% slope was devastating for me 😅), admire the view and photograph all of creation. The trail signs estimate incorrectly and should not be considered. Route of about 9km round trip. We descended in 1h40m (recorded by another app) but we had lunch at the Risen Christ viewpoint (end of the Via Crucis and the forepeak). When the Via Crucis ends, 10 mysteries begin, always positioned on path 105. They are the 5 Joyful and the 5 Glorious and obviously end at the foot of the statue of the Madonna dello Zerbion, positioned here in 1932. The pedestal is 8 meters high and the statue is 7 meters high. Obviously, since it was August, we found lots of people at the summit of Zerbion and since it was only midday, we went down to the forepeak to have lunch, where we were practically alone 😅
The outward app recorded badly due to GPS-related issues
