This route was planned by komoot.
Departure from the Church of San Bartolomeo in via San Bartolomeo, which is almost in front of the Sacrario del Tonale located right on the Pass, with destination Passo Paradiso. Easy first part: slight descent on a dirt road for about 1.3 km and then a detour to the right uphill, again on a dirt road, for another 3.2 km with about 350 meters of positive difference in height. After about 4.5 km in total, you will find the detour to the right for path 281 which leads directly to Passo Paradiso. Before taking the same path, however, you can make a small detour of about 300 meters to visit the lake which is located at about the 5th km (optional) and then go back and take path 281 to Passo Paradiso. This path is well signposted and in about 3 km quite challenging, with about 400 meters of positive altitude difference, it leads to the Paradiso Pass. As already mentioned, this second stretch is quite demanding compared to the first but still manageable if faced without haste. Before arriving, just beyond the 7th km, there are signs with directions and, if desired, with a small detour of about 100 m uphill, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view over the whole valley that turns towards Lombardy to then return to the path that will shortly take us to Passo Paradiso which is located immediately below the Presena Glacier. The track stops here because the Presena Glacier, at an altitude of 3000 m a.s.l., I reached it with the use of the two sections of the cable car and the return I did it all with cable car and gondola up to Tonale. The Paradiso Gallery, dating back to the War of '15 / '18, is located and can be visited free of charge, with finds and stories of the soldiers who fought in these places the "White War" in defense of Italy on the one hand and of the 'Austro-Hungarian Empire on the other.
A somewhat unusual hike, as there was a narrow time window due to the weather report. The rain didn't stick to the weather forecast and caught us before we reached the observatory. Although we were wearing rain gear, we wanted to save ourselves the descent in the pouring rain and with wet feet, so we took the cable car down to the valley Despite everything, the hike was very nice and interesting. We explored the caves of the WW1 military positions.
As usual I activated Komot only at the pond. We have walked along the path of peace. Stunning landscapes with incredible rhododendron blooms that accompanied us along the way. Sunny day which allowed us to admire the Presena and Tonale glaciers at 3000m. Until next time.
