This route was planned by komoot.
We get the start cards and hiking map from the Layen tourist office and set off. From the village square we follow the signs for Vogel 🐦 Weiderundweg, the lower section with small green round IVV signs and leads to the checkpoints. At the Wasserbühl biotope you have a great all-round view and a bench to linger on. With a view of Lajen. Past Diller Hof to Albion, where we fill up our water bottles at the fountain and have a small snack. We continue through the forest following the signs for Walter von der Vogelweide, a narrow path with many fallen trees past Buchner Hof, we cross the road and hike to Vogelweiderhof. Now it goes steeply uphill. And back to the destination where we get our IVV books stamped.
Small Sunday round with minstrel aura. Whether Walter was actually born here remains a matter of dispute. But nice to read Old High German poems in the middle of the landscape.
