Challenging walk with continuous climbs. First part on a basic road with a stone path

Winnebachtal Parkplatz - path 23 - Astnerberg Alm - path 23 - Lago della Pausa refuge (Tiefrastenhütte) From Falzes continue on the SP40 towards Vandoies for about ten km. Just before Terento, turn right onto via Lerchner in the direction of the Astnerberg hut and the large car park in Winnebachtal (Val Vena). From the car park, continue uphill and steadily on an easy forest road that runs alongside the Rio Vena. After the entrance to the Astnerberg hut (30-40 minutes), continue on the same trail starting to gain altitude with some serpentines through the larch forest. Accompanied by the roar of the waterfall you reach a beautiful recently renovated private hut, where the service road ends. You now begin to climb the side of the valley; when it reaches its peak, a magnificent plain opens up, dominated by streams and streams. Continuing in the NW direction, on a stretch that coincides with the Alta Via di Fundres, you take the last stretch on steps that lead to the base of the Lago della Pausa Refuge and its alpine lake. Return for the same itinerary. NOTES: from here, on a path for expert hikers, the famous Cima di Terento (2,738 m) or the overhanging Kempspitz (2,704 m) is recommended.

You don't actually need to create any highlights, the whole hike is a highlight.

The tour was a bit strenuous, but the view and the hut with super good food and very friendly and attentive staff made us forget all the effort.

Today we went up to the Tiefrastensee and. The deep rest hut. From the beginning it was uphill, first on the gravel road until it went up steeply to the left on beaten paths. Once at the top we were rewarded with a magnificent view. After a good meal on the Alm, we went down the same way again.

Along the Winnenachtal to the Astenalm, then steeply ascending to the plateau with raised moor and at the end of the last ascent to the hut with very good food and swimming in the lake

Unfortunately, due to the threat of a thunderstorm, we had to forego the last stretch to the Tiefrastenhütte. Otherwise, a fantastic tour in the Winnebachtal.
