Easy and very nice excursion, you cross several streams of water, beautiful landscape and manicured paths, recommended 👍🤗
Pinzano al Tagliamento - Via Castello - path 822 - Sflunc waterfall - Samontan (ruins) - Molimes di Costabeorchia - Cja Ronc - Germanic Ossuary - Fonte Pociut - Pinzano Castle - Pinzano al Tagliamento An easy excursion suitable for everyone that develops in a foothill setting between waterfalls, streams, chestnut woods, testimonies of the Great War and views as far as the eye can see over the Friuli plain. Well signposted and maintained, the ring entirely follows the CAI 822 path. The starting point is set in Via XX Settembre, in the center of Pinzano, between the post office and the Town Hall. From here, take Via Castello, going uphill for about 300 m. Reached the first indications, we engage clockwise on the signpost 822, which we will follow to the left. After about 600 m you leave the road that leads to Costabeorchia to turn left near a house. The beautiful path now develops in the wood of maple, ash and chestnut trees alternating bumps and ups and downs. At the end of the tree-lined ridge, you descend steeply to the confluence of the Rio Dietro Colàt and the Rio di Costabeorchia. After the ford, follow the course of the stream, then cross it again and turn right into the Rio Gercja valley. Continue along the stream with a few fords and, after passing the detour to Oltrerugo, you reach the beautiful waterfall (2.5 km from the start). The Sflunc waterfall (or Sflunc di di Samontàn) is a graceful water jump with a large pool, ideal for finding refreshment in the summer months. A suggestive place, surrounded by nature, perfect for a picnic or a simple stop. From here you ford the watercourse again and pass the overhanging ridge through a suggestive hole in the rock. Follow the stream for a further stretch until you leave it definitively to climb the coast. After passing the ruins of Samontan, invaded by the Cervina tongue and the holly, one still rises with a good slope up to the cultivated terraces of Molimes, the highest nucleus of Costabeorchia (310 m). Keeping to the edge of the pitch, take the concrete staircase that rises above the houses. Following the traverse, you reach a small fork under Mount Molimes, arriving at the highest point of the excursion. I went down on the north side, an old ruin anticipates the meeting with the asphalted road. Follow it to the right for about a hundred meters, after which you take the path on the left again to go down into the woods near the valley furrow. The route continues with a long traverse halfway up the coast and with a sharp descent that leads near a ruin in loc. Cjà Ronc. A final paved section accompanies a recent house with some hives. Once in Via Campeis, follow the narrow asphalted road for about 700 m until the intersection with the SP1. From here continue left to return to the undergrowth after a hundred meters. Now go up towards the narrow Tagliamento, on the stretch that coincides with the Historical Itinerary and the relative trail sign. Among the fronds of the trees you can recognize the white gravels of the river and the nearby mountain of Ragogna with the castle. Crossing the gate that delimits the grazing area of the Capramica project, under a metal post of the Cold War, you reach another enchanting place: the Germanic Ossuary of Col Pion, an unfinished building that should have collected the remains of about 30,000 soldiers Germans and Austro-Hungarians who fell during the First World War. After the break, the path starts again (with your back to the structure) going down to the left on the service track that approaches the asphalted road. From here, turn right and then left to follow the Rio Bearzi up to the Pociut spring, a place dear to the Pinzanesi. From this, which is also the lowest point of the excursion, go up again on the SP4, exiting in the bend at the large stone fountain (Fontanates). Now all that remains is to follow the stairway path that climbs decisively towards the Savorgnan di Pinzano Castle. Upon encountering another gate, take the last tear that comes out near the summit collar, where you can see the ruins of the old manor (table and benches). Today only a couple of arches and the relative walls remain of the fortified complex, but on the other hand the view over the plain is magnificent. Retracing your steps, go around the hill on the south side, descending again towards Via Castello and reconnecting to the route taken previously.
Very nice ride and without extreme difficulties: it certainly shouldn't be done with wet / slippery ground because there are various quite steep sections. The path, however, is well marked with white/red colours, with tables and also with information panels. Thanks to @meleagri for sharing the track https://www.komoot.it/tour/1048591993?ref=atd
Trail from Komoot application, slightly changed. Izvèlēj@os according to the weather information - where it does not rain in the Alps. You could walk up and down.
