It was really exhausting! In the end, almost more of a via ferrata than a hiking trail. But the lake is really breathtakingly beautiful!
We hadn't informed ourselves enough, thought it was more of a walk. It turned out to be a really strenuous hike. It was Sunday, wonderful weather and still quite a few Italians, some with families, on the way or came back. First it was a wide, flat forest path, then a little uphill on a dirt road with gravel stones, then flatter again, then came the water and more stones, again flatter over the Wildlupinenalm. After that, the path changed in some climbing sections, sometimes a lot of gravel, large stones rounded by masses of water, hills to be overcome like a climb. It was very exhausting for flat countries like us. Some families also turned back. Up at the lake it turned out that it was quite small and not that spectacular at all. In addition, there were a lot of people, there are probably easier ways to get there ... In the end, however, the pride of having made it won 💪
Day 8 in the Dolomites took us briefly but crisply to the Sorapis Group to the lake of the same name. I have often seen photos of this lake and was curious if it really is that turquoise. And yes, it's really true 🤩... a South Pacific dream in the Dolomites, just great! In order to avoid the legions of people hiking the lake, we chose the ascent and descent via No. 217, parked a little further down and not at the Tre Croci. We had more vertical meters as a result, but we were pretty much alone on the road. The view of the surrounding mountains was terrific and when you stand up in this huge "Sorapiskessel" with this turquoise lake in the middle, the exertion of the climb is completely forgotten. Again it was a great experience 🥰
