Trail Reviews

A beautiful hike, even though half of the hike was steep uphill. But these mountains were breathtakingly beautiful. It was also very strenuous for us.

A wonderful tour along the mountain stream - sometimes below, sometimes far above with great views. Beautiful, varied climb. The Tschamintal is very beautiful, wildly romantic! There are some nice places to sit for a long rest. I walked this tour back the same way, although I'm actually not a fan of it. Still beautiful in this case. And you can 'pity' the hikers who come towards you all the better for their strenuous ascent, which you have already enjoyed a lot!😝.

Day 2: Temperatures below zero, but picture-perfect weather again. After breakfast, we set off. First, following a recommendation, we head to the Molignon Pass. After the first 30 meters of ascent on the rope in icy winds and not knowing what's to come, I decide to descend through the Bärenloch (Bear Hole) as described in the Kompass hiking guide. This, too, is quite challenging. Lots of climbing on the wire rope and countless steps. In some sections, the bottom of your pants helps. Downhill with large steps on steep terrain isn't my strong suit. You need to be sure-footed. At some point, we're done with the scrambling and the trail continues gently downhill through the Tschamintal valley to the Tschaminschwaige, where we stop for coffee, apple strudel without raisins, and buckwheat cake. It's only a 5-minute walk to the parking lot. Back to the hotel, and then off to the pool with a view of the Rosengarten.

The hike begins at the hiking car park in Weißlahnbad, which is easy to reach on the well-developed road to the Niger Pass. Soon after the car park, a forest path leads steeply uphill, always accompanied by the rushing of the mountain stream that rushes down the valley. After a short climb, the path meets a road that you follow, occasionally crossing pretty wooden bridges along the bank of the stream. At the Schafer Leger, you get your first views of the rugged peaks of the Rosengarten group. Beautifully laid out benches invite you to linger. The view from the Rechter Leger is even more beautiful, again with hiker-friendly benches, either in the shade or in the sun. In between, lovingly designed rock springs offer refreshment (take an empty bottle with you!). The last climb to the Grasleitenhütte is again a steep forest path that eventually climbs a grassy slope and, after a crest, opens up a view of the Grasleitenhütte, which is squeezed dark and cool in a narrow valley basin and is the starting point for hikes into the Rosengarten for those who stay overnight here. Attention: the hut opens late in the year, on June 16, 2024. The return journey takes the same route.

Today the time had finally come, after five days of hard preparation, we were finally able to put on the snowshoes. 😉 At the end of our stay here in the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park, we took a scenic tour towards the Grasleiten Hut. All in all, I can only say - see you again in the rose garden. It was simply breathtaking here.

A strenuous ascent to the beautifully situated Grasleitenhütte

Komoot temporarily stopped working on the ascent. The descent is accurate.

Today we went through the Tschamintal between Rosengarten and Schlern to the Grasleitenhütte. Back via the Untertrumpedeller Schweige ⛰️👌🏼
