This route was planned by komoot.
Took the opportunity today and hiked the IVV PW Ritten in Klobenstein/South Tyrol. Unfortunately, the view of the mountains was somewhat restricted by haze; otherwise it would have been beautiful, great views. All in all an interesting hiking tour, which also leads a lot through shady forests. Unfortunately turned on too late, so the altitude difference is wrong. On the way we took a wrong turn and back again...😕🙋♂️
The Freud Promenade on Ritten takes about 1.5 hours from Oberbozen via Lichtenstern to Klobenstein - or vice versa. It is named after the famous founder of psychoanalysis, Dr. Sigmund Freud, who spent his vacation in the Hotel Bemelmans-Post in Klobenstein in the summer of 1911 and celebrated his silver wedding anniversary there on September 14, 1911. On the occasion of the 150th birthday of the Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist, the existing path no. 35 was renovated in May 2006 based on a project by the psychoanalysis historian Francesco Marchioro and named after Freud. The Plattner Bienenhof beekeeping museum is located on a hill in Wolfsgruben and can be seen from afar. At 600 years old, the Plattner Hof is one of the oldest farms on the Ritten and an exciting museum about the lives of farmers in bygone times. In the barn part of the house you can also learn everything about bees and honey production. Next to the farm there is also the Bee nature trail, where you can experience the world from a bee's perspective. It was another nice round with a lunch break in Oberbozen. The way back went via the beekeeper and bee museum, very interesting.
A nice end towards the end of the tour was a visit to the Plattner honey sales point at Wolfsgruben. Dozens of varieties from sweet to slightly bitter, with a mint, chestnut, fir or cherry flavor - just to name a few of the best known. I think when we've all got our 5 glasses I'll start humming.
Today's destination is the Ritten! This mountain is the local mountain of Bolzano. We have decided to take a look at the small towns of Oberbozen, Klobenstein and Lengmoos. We want to combine this with a short hike on the Sigmund Freud Promenade. We start again by bus to Bolzano. Then we take the Ritten cable car to Oberbozen. In Oberbozen our little journey continues with the Ritten narrow-gauge railway to Klobenstein. If anyone thinks that these trips put too much strain on the poor hiker's budget, they are very much mistaken. Here they really understand how tourism can work and how to keep the caravans of vehicles away from the hotspots. All the means of transport we use belong to the "Südtirolmobil" transport network and are completely free with the guest card. That leaves some change for coffee and other Tyrolean specialties. The route can be walked without much effort. There is a lot to see and read. And all thanks to the Austrian doctor, S. Freud. We are not sure that this very contentious fellow is the right conversation in this wonderful environment. The obligatory stop for a break is of course completed with top marks for behavior. So our little tour ends at the mountain station of the cable car and we swing back down into the valley with a magnificent view of Bolzano. We still have some time for the bus, which we shorten with an espresso.
This walk, compared to the Sciliar crossing, was just a trial walk. On the one hand we wanted to move our tired legs, on the other hand I was curious about the Ritten and the panorama of the Schlern and Rosengarten.
We took the narrow-gauge railway from Oberbozen to Klobenstein and then returned to Oberbozen on the Via Romea, or Freud Promenade. We were accompanied by a gigantic panorama of the Dolomites!
Very pleasant and easy to walk hike. Again and again you are encouraged to stop by the grandiose panoramic views.
