The Path of the Great Trees winds along the large and silent Montagnole plateau, at the foot of the imposing and overlying chain of the Three Crosses: a very suggestive and scenographic landscape, with the file rouge of majestic centuries-old trees, accompanied by information panels. A must for foliage! The route is not very well indicated: the map on the panel is very stylized and a couple of crossroads disorientate the hiker; but in the end all roads lead to Rifugio Battisti. The advice is to diversify the routes on the outward and return journey, so as to cover all or almost all the variants. (+info in highlight) In this tour, I wanted to follow the complete and official path, which starts from the obsolete Recoaro Mille Chalet and arrives at Rifugio Battisti: the first part, however, does not offer much and is expendable; in fact it usually shortens in length and difference in altitude, starting from the large car park in Pizzegoro or from the Trattoria La Gabiola. I took a couple of little-traveled and well-known detours, to EE... On the way out, from Pizzegoro, instead of following the asphalt road I took a little-traveled ledge that overlooks it: very suggestive, but narrow and exposed. On the way back, after passing Colle della Gazza, I went down an old military mule track (also narrow and exposed) which crosses a couple of stony landslides, and then joins the forestry road.
Thanks for sending it back. I now have all the information I need to prepare a precise and accurate post. Here's the data optimized for Komoot, based on your route. Departure from the artificial lake parking lot towards Recoaro Mille. Easy but long hike not suitable for people without training, we found cloudy weather that did not show the surrounding peaks. To be repeated later
Path of the big trees. Beautiful walk for anyone. Perhaps for the too hot period. It would be better from autumn to spring: snow permitting
