This route was planned by komoot.
Circular excursion starting from the center of Piovene Rocchette where there is no shortage of car parks where you can leave your car. For a short stretch, follow the asphalt road until you come across the signs for the CAI path 461. Once you reach Costa La Rancina, the most tiring part of the climb begins with a path that with narrow bends crosses the steep forest until it crosses the CAI path 462 which leads to Piazzale Belvedere; from here you quickly reach the top of Monte Summano dominated by the large cross. For the descent you reach the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Summano where you begin to follow the comfortable Girolimini path which ends in Piovene Rocchette, passing through the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Angelo. Excursion without technical difficulties. I recommend also taking the short detour of path 461 to visit the military posts of the Great War in the Bocca del Lovo area.
Yesterday I decided last minute so in the company of a guy from CAI Schio we did this route. Since I had to complete the Costa la Rancina route I decided to do this tour but on the way back I would do a loop to lengthen the tour and do a lot of altitude difference. What can I say? Tour definitely not suitable for everyone, trained people with good physical preparation. Costa la Rancina also called the PostZioni trail, is worth it because it is a place full of historical finds, posts, warehouses. The route is quite challenging as this mule track is a constant zigzag climb up to the Genzianella hut, about 2.30/3 hours of continuous climbing. Exposed and you really have to be careful. On the way back we went down towards the bench from there the church of the Angel and under the tornarti this dirt road/forest path that connects with Costa. We parked at the Castello di Meda pizzeria, the return road is quite quiet and beautiful also because it is always panoramic. ❤️🔥
