Get on your bike and discover the "milk-rich" heart of Friesland. This route takes you past green meadows with grazing cows, charming farms, and villages where the history of the dairy factories is still visible. In Scharsterbrug, for example, you'll pass a still-working dairy factory, while in Delfstrahuizen, a former factory has been given a new lease of life as a hotel and restaurant.

The route starts at the Tourist Transfer Point Delfstrahuizen/Echtenerbrug. Here you can easily park or moor your boat and explore the area from there by bike. At the end of the route, it's recommended to visit Lemmer and reward yourself with a tasty treat.

Along the way, you'll enjoy the peace and charm of small Frisian villages and spot unique bell towers, a typical feature of this region. The wind can be quite strong in Friesland, so be prepared. Fortunately, around the halfway point, you'll pass Paviljoen SaMar: a wonderful spot for a well-deserved break.

Because the adjacent ditch had dried up, the sisters fought the fire with buckets of fresh milk. But the heat immediately caused the moisture in the milk to evaporate, while the milk fat fanned the flames. Panicking, the sisters called out each other's names, "Tsjûke and Marchje." This, according to legend, is how Lake Tjeukemeer got its name.

What else do you need in Friesland besides a bike? A boat!! It's crazy how much water there is here, you're constantly driving over small or large bridges or taking a small ferry that takes you to the other bank - just beautiful. And we're just lucky with the weather.
