A great cycle path through the dunes and then a tailwind 😁. The way back with the strong headwind was pretty tough though. A quick detour to Nordwijkerhout for some shopping and that satisfied the need for exercise for today 😉.
At 11:00 a.m. rain is announced, but since it doesn't look like it, we'll set off to drive the Bollenstreek towards Zandvoort 🚲. The tulips 🌷 may have faded a long time ago and the onions were harvested, but the huge fields are still worth seeing. Many farmers are out and about with their tractors, working the endless rows between the canals. Magnificent greenhouses and very well-kept goods lie neatly in between. The market at the Witte Kerk is taking place in Noordwijkerhout today. This small town with its pretty old brick houses, small alleys and individual shops is so very different from the large surrounding bathing resorts with their sometimes not so nice architectural mistakes from the 1970s. The somewhat mystical "Lost Place" Sint Bavo has recently been a construction site, and a large residential park is being built here. The café-restaurant Como and Mama are located on the extremely idyllic lake "Oostduinser Meer". Each one is fantastically beautiful in a very special location on and above the lake, each with its own wonderful charm 🤩. The bombastic lily decoration looked almost artificial at first glance, but in fact they were all real flowers. We love this wonderful, unique place and even today it is very difficult for us to tear ourselves away from it. We continue through the fascinating landscape with long canals, wide fields and the typical houses and goods and drive around the Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen on the east side. From Zilk it then goes through wide pastures and from Vogelezang through the shady forest, right and left magnificent villas behind wide driveways. In Zandvoort we stroll along the Haltestraat and meet local women who are here today with the Weilke Bus for a day trip to go shopping. But we are drawn to the wonderful, endlessly long and wide beach 👣. We enjoy the 1st ☕️ on the terrace of Tent6, the 2nd ☕️ already under the canopy. Then heavy rain and a thunderstorm break out, a natural spectacle over the North Sea, which we watch and sit out in very nice company in the beach hut. We then enjoy our return journey through the fascinating dune landscapes of Langeveldserslag, Duindamse Slag and De Blink. On the still wet Zuiderduinpad we are accompanied by a number of deer, snails, great cloud formations and now the sun again, otherwise we are almost alone on the road. Matching the meal at Het Wapen, we reach Noordwijkerhout again. We can only recommend this wonderful restaurant with its excellent cuisine, and today we are again totally enthusiastic! What a beautiful day with this varied dream tour 🥰!
Under a blue-white sky with an occasional "stiff breeze," we cycled through the dunes and back through wooded areas. It was fun 😀.
Travel time 2h33min, average speed 19.1km/h with Urban Arrow cargo bike
The countryside and the tulip fields are so beautiful. The cycle paths are great and everything is well signposted (cycling by numbers). I can only recommend a visit to the Keukenhof, but also a bike ride around the tulip fields.
We borrowed electrise fiets in Zandvoort, it's fun to be unimpressed in wind and weather 😉😊. Photos were irrelevant today, considering the speed ... although, the ravens pushed themselves a little bit intrusively ....
