Hiking
Sandy paths, idyllic landscapes, and beautiful views make this hike a true nature experience. On your tour through the Heidesheimer Dünensande, you can enjoy the Rhenish-Hessian panorama to the fullest without any major climbs.
You start in the heart of the medieval Rhine town of Heidesheim. Along the Wildgraben, you stroll relaxed out of the charming village on the Uferstraße. Lined with trees and partly high bushes, you hike through increasingly deep hollow paths through an almost otherworldly landscape. Your excursion through the nature reserve "Hangflächen Südöstlich Heidesheim" ends with a fantastic view.
At the top of the Höllenberg, you are offered wide views over Rheinhessen and the Rheingau. Soon you leave the vineyards and orchards and hike along the Lennebergwald. Sandy paths, lined with species-rich meadows, finally lead you back to the tranquil Heidesheim, where you can comfortably end your hike at the Schönborner Hof, the Gaststätte Vater Rhein, or the Pizzeria Da Valentino.

Our highlight today was definitely two hoopoes sunbathing on a sandy path. Unfortunately, we didn't take a photo. We didn't want to scare these two rare birds away.
The highway noise is a negative, but only on a small part of the route: at the so-called Rheingoldruhe.
