A beautiful autumn hike in the Altmühltal with a sunny 12 degrees. Tour from https://www.naturpark-altmuehltal.de/routen/burgenweg_im_anlautertal-38/
You could actually save yourself the approx. 4km loop at Schafhausen 🤷♂️ ... unfortunately there is nothing interesting to see. Unfortunately it wasn't worth the sweat🙈🤣 ... but otherwise it was a great tour 😇
On Sunday I drove to the Altmühltal and there to the outskirts of Enkering. This is where my tour "Burgenweg im Anlautertal" started.
Today was my first time in this valley. Very nice tour at the beginning with snow 😲. It was also cold and windy. At some point, however, it became pleasant to walk 👍👍👍. A very nice hike.
🔵🔵🔵🔵⚪️ (4.3) Friends of the Altmühltal get their money's worth at the "Burgenweg Anlautertal - 18".
The castle trail in the Anlautertal is also loop 18 on the Altmühltal Panorama Trail and is well signposted accordingly. The tour starts from Enkering and immediately goes steadily uphill to the first castle ruin. The Rumburg ruin still has some masonry and offers an impressive view over the Anlauter and Schwarzach valleys. The trail continues across the plateau, mostly on beautiful meadow paths, along the edge of the forest. Before a short side path leads to the next castle ruin. The Stossenberg ruin, also known as Rundeck, also has remains of walls, but unfortunately no longer offers a view. Continuing to follow the path, it soon leads into the forest and slightly downhill. Ramparts and ditches, or faults in the terrain, give an idea of the Wieseck castle ruins before the corresponding information board appears. Already heavily overgrown, the former fortification can still be explored on a few paths. The view of the surrounding area can still be seen, but is severely restricted by the foliage of the trees. The trail continues through Erlingshofen along the sunny Anlauter valley until you reach Schafhausen, where you go uphill past the church outside the town to the next former fortification. Before you reach this, however, the trail follows the Limes hiking trail for a while, i.e. a section of the former border fortification of the Roman Empire. An information board then points to the prehistoric Mallburg rampart. This is already heavily overgrown, so that little can be seen. Back through Schafhausen, you continue to follow the Anlauter, pass the "Festen Haus" in Eibwang and finally return to the starting point of the hike. A really beautiful and varied hike through the most beautiful landscape on wonderful paths with interesting insights into the history of the region. Highly recommended!
You should save yourself the round to the Limeswall near Schafhausen. Better to take Enkering and the Rumburg with you.
The romantic Burgenweg loop 18 should be it today. First at Enkering up towards the Rumburg ruins. We follow the beautiful beech forest path to Eibwang. Here it goes comfortably to Schaffhausen. Soderla ..... huiuiui, now it's really steep uphill .., but well, we want to go to Mallburg. The forest is unbelievably beautiful, it was worth it once. The Mallburg is preserved in a small wall. Finally a snack in Erlingshofen. Freshly strengthened, we hike on to Stossenberg Castle, also known as Rundeck Castle. What a great castle !!! Now it goes about 6 km further and we arrive directly in front of the Rumburg ruins. A fairytale loop!
