Varied, lots of nature, mostly quiet, good paths. One of our favorite rounds
Start at the Basilica of St. Martin up to the Calvary - through the lovely Agsbachtal - up to Herrnsberg over the extensive plateau - on the northern and western edge of the Calvary back to the starting point. A varied, beautiful hike with lots of flowers in spring.
The start of my little tour near Greding was a parking lot directly at the Romanesque Basilica of St. Martin in Greding at the foot of the Calvary. Apart from a gravelly and asphalted crossing through the fields to the town of Herrnsberg, I only walked along wonderful, largely natural forest paths and paths. First I walked along the slope of the Kalvarienberg, accompanied by the constant rush of traffic on the A9 in the Schwarzachtal. This little "nuisance" suddenly disappeared after the turnoff into the narrow and shady Hirlbachtal. The silence and seclusion on the leafy paths were simply fantastic. We passed the so-called “robber caves” that were accessible and nothing is actually known about their origins. From my turning point in the town of Herrnsberg we then went down into the Agbachtal, a section of the path that is just as wonderfully quiet and breathes golden yellow autumn. After a detour to the "ice cave" just before Greding (a short but steep climb), I finally climbed the Gredinger Kalvarienberg from "back", where I was greeted by a beautiful view over Greding and the Schwarzachtal and, unfortunately, the rush of traffic on the A9 again. The Stations of the Cross then led me down, past gnarled ash trees, back to the Basilica of St. Martin.
I used a day off for this beautiful lap in bright sunshine. 😎
