Nature, history, and views: The circular tour to the Eppenstein ruins offers just that. A varied route that not only gets you moving, but also takes you back in time.
From the parking lot below the ruins, you'll set off leisurely on well-marked paths through forests, meadows, and small farm settlements. You'll hike along old, not-too-steep trails. Only the final few meters up to the castle ruins do things get a bit tougher. Surefootedness is required here – especially on wet ground.
Once you reach the top, you'll find yourself standing in front of the impressive remains of one of Styria's oldest fortifications and enjoy a sweeping view over the Mur Valley before hiking back to the start through green forests and open fields.
