Between climbs and whipped cream – a grand café road cycling tour in the Land of 1,000 Hills

The Große Café-Runde embodies exactly this feeling.

The route connects five official hill passes with an exceptionally high density of refreshment stops. With Schindelberg, Bannhalde, Gündelbacher Steige, Kleingartacher Höhe, and Hörnle, several distinctive ascents await you, offering plenty of profile. Sometimes long-drawn-out, sometimes challenging – but always with a view and a hill pass sign.

And then come the options. This tour doesn't force you into fixed stops – it offers you possibilities. Depending on when your legs demand a break or when the coffee craving strikes, there are several suitable addresses along the route. A fixed point of call is the Hügel-Pause at Hofladen Luisenhof – with a road-bike-friendly bike rack, free lock, and homemade cake.

In addition, there's Stück vom Glück in Flehingen, Kaffeehaus Aschinger in Oberderdingen, Schülkes Hofladen in Kirbachtal, Landcafé Leinberger in Zaberfeld, Winzercafé Neipperg, or, for the finale, Weiherbistro in Eppingen. Many bake their own cakes, much is regional – and not every break has to look the same.

Between Häfnerhaslach and Ochsenbach, you can also shorten the route by a few kilometers if needed – if today was more about racking up altitude meters, or if your cappuccino took longer than planned.
