Unfortunately, the pictures are jumbled up. And once again, I'm richer for another wonderful experience – almost two days on the road with a great group of four, and a wonderful hike in the upper Bregenzerwald! Elisabeth, Doris, Stephanie, and I met at the Dornbirn train station; the first group arrived by train. At 7:33 a.m., we took the bus from Dornbirn almost to Schröcken, a one-and-a-half-hour ride to the Landsteg stop. From there, it was almost two hours up to the Biberacher Hut, where we checked in and left our large backpacks. We took a quick break, had a drink, and then set off up the path to the summit of the Hochkünzel, which we happily reached after almost two and a half hours. The time was marked at 1 hour 30 minutes, but we already had 900 meters of elevation gain in our legs, so it's hardly possible to run uphill. After all, there were almost another 500 meters of elevation gain ahead of us. The weather wasn't entirely stable; it drizzled a few times on the way to the hut. We waited out a brief, heavy shower under a tree and then arrived at the top practically dry. The sky cleared up before the hut, and we were able to enjoy the hike without a care in the world; the predicted small cloud front moved elsewhere. In the evening, we were full of impressions from the great tour, soon sat down in the restaurant for dinner, and had a great conversation. A cloverleaf that really harmonizes, super important on such adventures. Soon the convivial evening came to an end, and we settled into our bunks in the camp, which was quite amusing, girls do ;) The night was quiet, and even though we didn't sleep very well, we crawled out of bed at 6:30 a.m. feeling refreshed. There was a bit of a line at the breakfast buffet; the hut was fully booked due to the large number of guests, so of course everyone wanted to leave early for the next destination. Unfortunately, due to the weather, ours was only able to descend the same way we had ascended; it was raining. We were delighted to have had such a wonderful experience on the planned tour the day before. So, in a good mood, we hiked past the cloud-covered mountains toward the bus stop, arriving a little early. We took the bus to Schröcken, stopped for a quick snack, and soon our bus to Dornbirn arrived, taking us home through the beautiful Bregenzerwald. A wonderful experience with wonderful mountaineers that is unforgettable and a real highlight of this summer.
Great "girls' hike" to the Hochkünzelspitze with an overnight stay at the Biberacher Hütte 💚🥾 The meeting point for this "adventure hike" was the train station in Dornbirn for Doris, Stephanie, Birgit, and me. After a warm welcome and much chatter, we reached our hiking destination, the "Landsteg" bus stop, after a good 1 hour 30 minute bus ride. At the start of the hike, the weather was still rather cloudy, and on the steep climb to the Biberacher Hütte with heavy luggage, we were caught in a rather heavy downpour 🤣. The mountain panorama and flora on the ascent were beautiful, and words cannot describe it. Once we arrived at the hut, we first checked in and dumped any unnecessary items to have a lighter backpack for the climb to the Hochkünzelspitze 👍. After a short break and with the weather now improving 🌤🌞, we set off for the Hochkünzelspitze👍 With light packs, we made good progress. The trail is varied, with some scrambling, and in the upper section, there's also a section secured with ropes. The last few meters up to the summit are partially secured with a rope, but you definitely need to be sure-footed. Once we reached the summit, we were overjoyed to have reached our goal. After a photo break, we returned to the summit plateau, where we took a "well-deserved" longer break before beginning the descent to the Biberacher Hut. Back at the hut, we enjoyed a well-deserved 🍺👍. Over dinner (pork fillet, thyme sauce, potato wedges, and chocolate cake), we had a lively conversation about the great hike. At 10 p.m., the fun was over because it was "hut quiet" 🤣. After a peaceful night (no snorers 😊🤣 in the room), it was time to wake up with personal hygiene (cat wash), packing our backpacks, etc., and then we went to breakfast. Since it was already raining in the morning, we abandoned our plan to hike over the Fürggele to the bus stop in Schröcken. So, in light drizzle, we headed back down to the starting point of our hike in Landsteg. Since our bus to Dornbirn doesn't leave for another hour 😥, we took the bus up to Schröcken for a quick "stop" and then took the bus back to Dornbirn. A little tired, but in a great mood, our paths parted again in Dornbirn. This hike was a wonderful experience for me, with lots of fun, pleasant conversations, and many new impressions. For me personally, it was a bit special, as I "failed" on my first attempt to hike the Hochkünzelspitze 😥 and yesterday I managed it without any problems thanks to this great "group" 💚👍
