It's easy to lose track of time here. A very well-preserved ruin with a magical feel.

𝘝𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘨 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘴𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘧 𝘢𝘶𝘧 𝘥𝘦𝘮 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘝𝘎𝘕 highlights - Poppberg castle ruins - Bear Rock - Orchid path - Lichtenegg castle ruins - Trails, trails, trails, pure nature From Nuremberg you can reach Hartmannshof fairly easily with the S Bahn / regional train. The Birglandexpress is practically next to the exit and from Röthenbach we were in 1:20 hours in Poppberg at the starting point (which can be varied depending on the level of fitness). After just a short distance, a path winds its way to the Poppberg castle ruins - the detour is definitely worth it. Here you have to pay close attention to the sign that the whole route is totally reliable. Great praise - it's really fun to run like this 🥰 The Bärenfelsen was probably not used to such a rush as today - especially since a radio operator with complete equipment had settled down on the narrow vantage point - the snack had to wait, no place available. There are plenty of fine places to stop for refreshments along the entire route, but we prefer to do this towards the end of a longer tour - i.e. further in the direction of Lichtenegg - the orchid forest path - I didn't know yet. From the village of Wurmrausch the hiker density increased and the closer we got to the wild plant highlight, the more traffic there was - photographers with tripods, hikers with and without mobile phones, senior citizens, children - a trade and bustle ... sure, Sunday - but me personally too much . Arrived at Lichtenegg Castle, the parking lot and the roadsides were packed, we are no longer to the castle. A few hundred meters behind the hotspot, the path plunges into the forest, and it's quiet again. Thank God . Panorama, rocks, flowers, meadows, water accompany us to Haunritz (with a stop at "Alter Fritz") and through the beautiful Högenbachtal to Hartmannshof. It was nice - super nice 🤩 absolute TOP recommendation Further information : The Birgland Trail | VGN PS There are more flower pictures than I thought. Otherwise: hiking instead of taking photos was the order of the day

Birgland is east of Nuremberg and the Birgland-Express leisure line brought me to the little town of Poppberg in the morning. I quickly climbed the local mountain of the same name and marveled at the ruins of Poppberg. Flowers lined my way and in addition to colorful columbines, orchids could also be seen again and again: especially small forest birds and nestworms, but also one or the other forest hyacinth. It was getting darker and darker behind me and on the way to Bear Rock it started to rain. The ascent to the viewpoint was therefore a slippery affair over wet roots and rocks. I climbed up carefully. But the effort was worth it for the farsightedness through the light veil of rain. The rain stopped, but a look at the rain radar announced the next front. I would have liked to have stopped off in Fürnried, but I didn't want to spend the rain break with a beer. So I marched on. After worm rush, the path climbed properly. I was now on a section of the orchid trail and soon discovered about the rare lady's slipper. Although this beautiful plant grows in abundance here, one must not forget its sad place on the Red List. Therefore: stay on the paths and take pictures from a distance. I also found Zweiblatt and asked myself, not for the first time, how such inconspicuous orchids can always catch my eye 😅 Impressive rocks followed the orchids - for some to climb, for others to marvel. I clearly belong to the second group and therefore walked past the Türkenfelsen, Hänsel und Gretel and the Emilfelsen with wide eyes. The forest opened up and revealed the view of the Lichtenegg castle ruins. The path led up and I didn't miss a little tour. Passing the village of Haunritz with the distinctive Alter Fritz rock, I finally reached the Hartmannshof train station and took the train home in comfort 😀 Please visit my outdoor and travel blog at https://hinter-dem-horizont.com Advertising - Cooperation with the VGN (Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg GmbH)
