Wurzacher Ried is simply always beautiful. And if you're interested in birds, it's even more mandatory. So off to the swamp with Heiko 😊
"Feel all your senses - in the midst of incomparable nature, this hike lets you experience what really counts. Paved and unpaved footpaths or boardwalks allow fascinating insights into the mysterious Wurzacher Ried nature reserve. The peat educational trail answers questions about peat mining on 12 information boards and exhibits. Author's tip: Make sure to take a detour to the viewing platform at the Achquellseen and enjoy the magical view of the reed landscape!" Source: https://www.oberschwaben-tourismus.de/touren/bad-wurzach-wanderweg-nr.-1-moor-weg-ried-pur-erleben-a958925aba The Wurzacher Ried is one of the largest nature reserves and one of the most important moorland areas in southern Germany. It has been awarded a prize by the EU as a European bird sanctuary and FFH area ("Natura 2000"). The moorland is located north of the municipality of Bad Wurzach in Baden-Württemberg. Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wurzacher_Ried The hike is highly recommended, but you should be prepared for horseflies and mosquitoes. Unfortunately, the previous flood destroyed the wooden bridges over the Wurzacher Ach in the spa park. A diversion was only partially signposted, so I only noticed it when I saw the destroyed wooden bridge. When the wooden bridges have been renovated, you should follow the directions on the Upper Swabia website.
A beautiful, varied hike through the moorland near Bad Wurzach. It was a pleasure to walk there. Now it's time for wellness.
I just find Moore exciting - at any time of the year. Today we finally went to the Wurzacher Ried again. 2 different hiking routes are shown here. We decided on the short version with a peat nature trail. So we still had time for the exhibition in the nature conservation center. There is a lot of exciting information here about the creation and preservation of moors!
It was a great hike, highly recommended. 🤗 The Wurzacher Ried is the largest contiguous raised bog in Europe. I saw a similar tour on Komoot – fellow hiker HAm saved it. Thanks for that.
From the hiking car park into the Ried. Several good improvements have been made, the purpose of the viewing platform is not clear to me, but maybe something will be done there.
