On this tour around the Petersberg, you can expect impressive panoramic views of the Rhenish-Hessian hills. At 246 meters, the Petersberg is one of the highest elevations in the region, allowing you to let your gaze wander far and wide.

At the summit lie the ruins of St. Peter's Church, dating back to the 10th century. The former basilica was an important place of pilgrimage, primarily because of its unique crypt, whose architecture bears parallels to churches in central Italy. Today, the spatial character of the underground crypt can be recreated thanks to archaeological excavation. Since 2009, an alternative route of the Rhenish-Hessian Way of St. James has also run over the Petersberg. Numerous rest stops along the way—including the famous Tables of Wine—invite you to linger and enjoy a picnic with a view.

Beautiful tour around and up the Petersberg with plenty of places to sit. Picnic in the shade at the Engelborner Brünnelchen and the refuge of the same name. There was no time for ice cream as all the tables were taken, which speaks for the ice cream parlor.
