From the destination to the starting point back by post bus, in Switzerland punctually and without any problems
This route includes a detour to the last suspension bridge on the Etlebnisweg. It's worth it!
What a wonderful first hike that was in the Saas Valley 🇨🇭🧡 We took the Hohsaas cable car up to Kreuboden and from there followed the signs for the Almagell high-altitude trail 😍 The view of the Saas Valley was stunning the whole way 🧡 The trail was mostly good, but in some places it was quite rocky and stony. I had to concentrate hard 😅 The final stretch was downhill to Almagell 😍 You can find more hikes at www.outdoor-glueck.de or follow me on my Instagram channel https://www.instagram.com/outdoorglueck/
Are with the gondola first to the top of Hohsaas to the path of the 18 four-thousanders and then to the middle stadium Kreuzboden for the Almageller Höhenweg hike
Understandably, this is a must-do hike when in the Saas Valley! A beautiful high-altitude trail with stunning views. At the end, you don't have to take the adventure trail; there's an alternative that descends directly to Amagell. The adventure trail is really only for those with a head for heights and surefootedness.
For our short, two-day trekking adventure through the Saas Valley, we start directly at the top station of the chairlift in Furggstalden. We already know the route from Saas-Almagell to there from the circular hiking trail, saving us quite a few meters of elevation gain. After just a few meters, things get adventurous on the Almagellerhorn Adventure Trail, which is officially classified as T4. My heart rate starts racing as I climb the first few steps up – trails like these are always a bit outside my comfort zone. Luckily, I can quickly see for myself how perfectly every even slightly exposed spot along the trail is secured. Wire ropes and nets along the edges calm my heart rate and allow me to actually enjoy the trail. It's truly beautiful and varied, with plenty of steps and boards, and even includes two long suspension bridges as a highlight. And what's more, it offers a stunning panorama of the Saas Valley and the surrounding mountains lying far below me, practically every meter away. Warning: Without surefootedness and a head for heights, the Almagellerhorn Adventure Trail can still be challenging. Please only attempt it in good weather! After the initial adrenaline rush, the walk to the Almagelleralp mountain hotel becomes more relaxed. The marmots whistle among themselves and cheer at the beautiful view of all the glaciers and four-thousand-meter peaks. The Almagelleralp looks extremely inviting for a stop, but we still have a lot to do today, so we'd rather head straight for the ascent to the Almageller High Trail. This trail lives up to its name and delights us all the way towards Kreuzboden with an incredible panorama of the Mischabel mountain range and the Mattmark reservoir behind us. It's simply wonderful to see everything we've already hiked in the last few days. For me, it's definitely one of the most impressive mountain ranges in the entire Alps! Every now and then, we have to scramble over boulders and stone slabs – I'm glad that such rough slopes usually don't pose much of a problem for me anymore, and I'm pleased that my surefootedness has really improved. Further along, the Almageller High Trail is identical to the Alpine Flower Promenade and is a true feast for the eyes in the mountain summer. When I spot some magnificent specimens of edelweiss in a meadow by the side of the trail, I'm truly delighted. So, keep your eyes open, because everything worth mentioning among alpine flowers is in bloom here, too. We continue along the high trail past Saas-Fee and Saas-Grund in the valley and finally reach Kreuzboden, where we treat ourselves to a break and a piece of cake in the mountain restaurant. Refreshed, we then prepare for the final ascent to the Weissmies Hut. It's a real challenge; I huff and puff, and on the final few meters, I slow down even more than the laziest snail. But finally, all my efforts are rewarded and I proudly arrive on the sunny terrace of the Weissmies Hut. The location at 2,726 meters amidst the rugged Valais Alps above Saas-Grund is incredible – what a panorama!
The Almageller Höhenweg - from Kreuzboden to Almageller Alpe - always along the slope - partly over steep slopes, partly scree and boulders. A piece beautifully signposted with information about the alpine flowers. Then descending - partly slightly exposed to the beautiful Almageller Alpe. After a short stop, continue down to the Furggstalu chairlift junction via the adventure trail. First through a beautiful larch forest, then over 2 suspension bridges, over short ladders, iron steps, wooden boards - always well secured - closely along the rock down. That was really fun. Then down a bit of a wide path and through a hamlet to the Furggstalu chairlift, which I was thankfully happy to take. This mountain trail was also very nice, made interesting by the information boards, great views of the 4000m peaks and spiced up by the adventure trail. Next time I would do it the other way around as it went down too much for me. That was my final tour in this beautiful area for the time being - tomorrow I'm going home.

Located largely on a balcony overlooking the Mischabels massif, this trail offers views of several peaks over 4,000 meters, such as the iconic Allalinhorn (4,027 m), the Dom (the highest point in the massif at 4,545 m), the Täschhorn (4,491 m), the Lenzspitze (4,294 m), and the Alphubel (4,206 m).
