Finally tested the small bike park in Saas Grund in reasonably friendly weather. You can take the 🚡, but you can also go to Kreuzboden without it. There are almost 900 meters in altitude to overcome, all of which are easy to drive. Orientation is a bit more difficult throughout the area, as is usual; you can hardly see any bike signposts. Marmots provided variety along the entire route, even 2 meters next to us ☺️. From the middle station you can still go to Hochsaas, but with a 30% gradient and an additional 700 m in altitude, it's better to take the 🚡 from here. I think 12sfr for the bike (e-bikes are apparently not transported) was the one-way trip. The bike trail is beautifully laid out, rides smoothly, has narrow berms in places and is very varied in the lower area in the forest. At the Trift middle station you are now faced with the problem that there is no signpost to the newly created exit! We found Café Trift 😃, which is beautifully located on the hillside! But then it was the wrong way 🫣. Keeping left before the middle station would have been correct. After a tip from the bike rental company, we continue on the right for another 300m, then the hiking trail comes into the valley. Right through the larch forest, past old alpine huts and mostly in the S1 area, you later cut the road several times and come out with a wide 😁 at the valley station. The signage needs to be improved, fortunately the hiking trails are not forbidden for bikers!
After the bikes got new brake pads, we had to "slow down" the brakes. This was done quickly, it just goes up and down. We stopped at Cafe Trift. Then further up to the Kreuzboden. Here Ruth enjoyed her summer program in a bikini. Meanwhile, I let off steam on the flea trails. Ruth then needed a cool down in the Seeli. This time we parted for the descent. Ruth drove down the normal route and I had decided on the hiking trail. This was a good choice. This path is made for me. I could drive anything. The grin on my face will continue for a while.
Two bikes, two bikers and the new bike park Kreuzboden, pure joy and action 😀🚵♂️🚵♂️☀️. It's brilliant. With the conveyor belt to the start, started on the easy trail. If you get more familiar with the route, then it's off ..... And luckily for us, we were almost alone. But a hiker in the bike park on the trail made me angry. And asked him what that was about. So I said my opinion 🤬😡
At the end we are up again with the bikes to the Weissmieshütte. This time via the trail over the ridge. But even this path is not suitable for biking, even if this is an official bike trail. But we fought our way up. And it was clear that we were not going to ride this trail anymore. So down on the hiking trail that we already knew. We had to walk a lot there too, but it went well. From Kreuzboden down to Saas Grund I took the hiking trail and Ruth chose the normal road. In Saas Grund we then had a goodbye round.
