This hike is part of the fourth stage of the Stubai High Trail, between the Dresdner Hut and the Sulzenau Hut. First, you take the Stubai Glacier Cable Car from Mutterberg up to the Fernau mid-station. Passing the famous Dresdner Hut, you follow the Stubai High Trail over the Fernaubach stream. You then begin a challenging climb through scree slopes – the path is narrow, and in some places, there are ropes to hold on to.
You zigzag up to the Peiljoch, the highest point of your tour at 2,672 meters. Then, you descend steeply to the turquoise Sulzenausee, which has formed below the Sulzenauerner. The rushing Sulzenaubach stream accompanies you all the way to your destination at the Sulzenau Hut. After a rest or a night in the hut, you can descend to the Grawa Alm, where you have access to the public bus network.
