The gently undulating route around the Buechibärg offers pure Mittelland idyll. It's gently up and down again – never particularly steep, but always with rewarding views! Ideal for a day trip into the Solothurn countryside. Along the way, inviting inns serving regional specialties will quench your hunger and thirst.

From the city center, a short stretch along the Aare River takes you out into the rural surroundings. The sight of well-kept farms will immediately put you in the mood for the day's theme, while your legs slowly warm up. Country roads and colorful meadows now lead you from farm to church tower and – weather permitting – offer views as far as the Jura and the Alps. Before tackling the final third of the tour, a visit to Buchegg Castle is worthwhile.

Buchegg Castle

Probably from the early Middle Ages to the fire of 1383, the rather large castle of the Bucheggberg counts and their descendants stood on the hill. The present tower was built on its ruins in 1546 and served as a prison until 1798. In the 19th century, agriculture and the attached barn found their way into agriculture and in its "underground", in the sandstone cellars, Bayer Faist, the popular "regional" beer in the district, was brewing around the turn of the century. Since the restoration in 1956, the castle has been a local museum.
