A loop along the upper Ahr with a detour to Blankenheim and the source of the Ahr. Beautiful paths, with a bit of a paved surface except around Blankenheim.
A super nice tour: https://www.wanderwelt-nordeifel.de/eifelspuren/wo-die-ahr-entspringt.html

Along with the EifelSpur "Tuscany of the Eifel," this circular hike near Blankenheim is certainly one of the highlights conceived by the creators of the hiking bargain table "EifelSpuren & EifelSchleifen" (Eifel Trails & Eifel Loops)... You could also call it a crossover of the Ahrsteig and Eifelsteig. Downstream, you follow the Ahrsteig to the turning point at the Oberahreck viaduct, and after crossing the viaduct of the same name, you mostly follow the Eifelsteig back to the starting point. I parked in the parking lot directly at the Schwanenweiher (Swan Pond). However, you can only park there for two hours free of charge between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. However, there is also a free parking lot a little further down (directly next to the pump track). To start, immediately after the Schwanenweiher (Swan Pond), there is a beautiful path right next to the still young and quite narrow Ahr River until you reach the rather unattractive sewage treatment plant. Then comes the toughest section: for almost 1.3 km, you follow a paved path... After that, the route consists mostly of beautiful paths, with occasional sections where you can let your gaze wander over the Eifel landscape. The final section is the historic town center of Blankenheim and, of course, the source of the Ahr River at its center. In the final meters, I adjusted the route a bit and added a detour through the Hirtentor (Hirten Gate)...
Today I was in the Eifel again and the Eifel track 'Where the Ahr rises' was on the program. The inspiration came again from Manu and also from Helga, always with Toni. Thanks to both of you!. It was another wonderful tour with a very beautiful, lush green forest and very beautiful meadows. I also liked the place Blankenheim with the Ahr spring in the middle of the village.
Today's hike took us to the small, tranquil town of Blankenheim in the Eifel region. The town center is characterized by beautiful half-timbered houses. Our starting point for the Eifel Trail was the Schwanenweiher (Swan Pond). A local recreational gem with a playground and a small kiosk, and a clean public restroom. The Eifel Trail repeatedly led through meadows and forested areas, some with small paths. There were repeated beautiful views of the Eifel. The trail was hardly used today, despite the holiday and the beautiful hiking weather. There were also frequent opportunities to rest on benches. At the end of our Eifel Trail, we passed through the small town center and reached the source of the Ahr River. At the end, we stopped at the Cafe Landlust. We found the cake and drinks very delicious...
Repeat of last Friday's tour. But this time together with the Dreiborn local group of the Eifel Association.
