Etappenwanderung: Hocheifel-Panorama-Weg (Insul - Adenau)

We started from the parking lot of the Keuler Inn and joined the trail after a few meters. The actual start, however, is from the parking lot at the Insul sports field, about 150 meters away. The tour is a permanently marked route. It immediately went uphill for 3 km to Winnerath. From there, we walked through meadows to Reifferscheid. From Winnerath and Reifferscheid, the views were simply magnificent. From Reifferscheid, we descended through the forest almost to Adenau. After the fishing pond, we had a short steep section on a narrow path, and then continued on a flat path to Adenau. We arrived early to treat ourselves to an ice cream before the 3:08 PM bus return to Insul (route 865). Overall, we enjoyed the tour 😉 😀👍🥾

Today there should only be a small round at home, otherwise enjoying the garden was the order of the day. So after breakfast in the garden we read the weekly newspaper and found the description of the Hocheifel Panoramaweg, a connection between the Eifelleiter and the AhrSteig. We have completed both hikes, but we did not know this path and it is almost on the doorstep. So: without further ado, the table was cleared and the shoes put on et voilà, here is our description! The panoramic hiking trail connects Adenau (end/start Eifelleiter) with (Insul (AhrSteig) and can be walked from both places, in both places there are places to stop and park. We decided for Insul to Adenau. From Insul it goes quite quickly into the forest. It's already warm and there's a slight uphill climb, but it's shady here and the backpack is full of water. Between Insul and Winnerath we step out into open space, but there is always a bit of wind on the heights. In addition, there is always a bench in the shade and we are well protected. The weather is super good, from the Hürstnück viewpoint - the absolute highlight of this hike - we can even look as far as the Siebengebirge without binoculars. Of course we also enjoy the views of the Aremberg, the Hohe Acht and the Nürburg. After Reifferscheid it goes back into the shady forest, which we only leave again in the village of Adenau. The last stretch along the main street doesn't bother you at all, because now the anticipation of a delicious ice cream lures! If you don't know Adenau yet, you can certainly be enthusiastic about individual discoveries along the main street. I can only recommend a rest at the Marienkapelle - although so close to the finish line!!! Conclusion: a wonderful Sunday walk that we can recommend - and not only if you want to combine the two hikes 👍🥾☀️
