Hiking

From the gondola that took you to the Wispile Mountain Hut, this tour begins on the mountain ridge at an elevation of 1,907 meters. From here, you'll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Saanenland on your way to the Chrine Pass.

It's recommended that you bring your own provisions on this hike if you don't want to start your hike with a break at the Wispile Mountain Hut. Once you've reached Lake Lauenen, you can put your feet up for a relaxing rest in the open air before ending your day in picturesque Lauenen.

Wispile Mountain Lodge

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Wispile Mountain Lodge is easily accessible from Gstaad by cable car. Once at the top, you can either enjoy the view from the sun terrace or hike along the numerous trails across the meadow-covered mountains. Local specialties are served on the terrace and in the cozy parlor, and on the "Cow to Know" discovery tour, children and adults alike can learn all about the 70 cows that live in the meadows surrounding the mountain lodge.

Further information and opening hours can be found at gstaad.ch/bergbahnen/berghaeuser.html.

Alpine meadows and wide views

Highlight • Viewpoint

On the trail from the Wispile to Lauensee you cross wide mountain meadows, where contented cows graze. The view sweeps into the distance up to the glacier-covered peaks of Gelthorn and Wildhorn, which tower steeply into the sky.

Lauenensee (Lake Lauenen)

Highlight • Lake

In 1982, the Swiss dialect rock band sang "I gloub, i gangä no meh a Louenesee" and thus set a musical monument to the picturesque Lauenensee - there is hardly a Swiss who can not sing the song.

The Lauenensee lies in the midst of a wide Moorwiesen nature reserve and invites with various bathing and fire places, a restaurant and a rowboat rental to a longer stay.

You can find more information about Lake Lauenen at gstaad.ch/sommer/wandern/bergseen.html.
