Today was the next home track in the best hiking weather. It was a short, relaxed, shady, windy tour. The route is well signposted and maintained.
Our second round today. with a subsequent detour to the cold water geyser "Brubbel" Brubbel costs EUR 1.50 entry. You must have some patience. Bubbling only comes every 40 minutes
https://www.gesundland-vulkaneifel.de/heimatspur-wallenbornerweg/ "You will encounter a special natural phenomenon on this five-and-a-half kilometer loop from Wallenborn: slowly, carbonated water continues to simmer from a fountain in the town center. The cold water geyser is an absolutely fascinating attraction. The circular hike starts at the Catholic branch church of St. Sebastian. Surely you can hardly wait to visit the geyser called "Brubbel" or Wallenden Born in the heart of Wallenborn. Therefore, it is also your first stop and only a five-minute walk away. A mixture of carbon dioxide, gas and water ensures that the unique cold water geyser shoots up every 35 minutes. The water is only nine degrees cold and bubbles up for six minutes. If you have had enough of the natural spectacle for the time being, the path leads you out into the surrounding forests. You follow the course of the Marschbach to the Mansteins Bridge. The old stone bridge at the confluence of the Marschbach and Walmersbach was originally built to transport grain. The course of the Walmersbach brings you back to Wallenborn on shady forest paths, where you can pay another visit to the "Brubbel". FOREST - WATER - WAllenborn Nice afternoon ride before it got dark.... www.bewegunghilft.de The bubble rises about every 35 minutes. Up to 4m in height, I just missed it, but when it's warmer and brighter it's worth the wait.
https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/1053931/-auf-den-spuren-von-natur-und-geschichte-heimatspuren-in-der-vulkaneifel After my enforced COVID-19 break, a short walk to warm up again. The HeimatSpur Wallenborner Weg is one of the shorter HeimatSpuren (homeland trails) through the Volcanic Eifel. The circular trail isn't particularly spectacular, but rather captivates with its tranquil and unhurried nature. So this walk in itself is no reason to drive all the way to Wallenborn in the deepest Eifel region—if it weren't for the "Brubbel" (a geyser)! Originally a mofette, it was drilled into a cold-water geyser in the 1930s and is located in the middle of the village. Every 35 minutes, a fountain of varying height shoots into the air. A nice attraction for young and old... The circular hiking trail is a wonderful addition to the village attraction "Brubbel," especially if you missed the initial fountain and are wondering: What do I do to sweeten the wait between two fountains? Exactly! Once to the Manstein Bridge and back again! After visiting the geyser, we climb up from the valley basin where Wallenborn lies to the hill on the other side of the village. From here, you have a beautiful view of the "Brubbel" village. The following trail descends via winding paths deep into the Marschbach valley. Along a distinctive floodplain, we follow the strongly meandering stream on a slow-paced forest path to the Manstein Bridge. The Marschbach is an unbridled streamlet that, meandering wildly through the floodplain, leaps over hill and dale. Sometimes it is very deep and impassable, sometimes it flows broadly and diffusely around small stone banks. These fords make it easy to cross the stream and then follow it on the other side along a still faintly visible path to where it meets the Walmerbach. A variant for weed fighters with large dogs who don't lose sight of the view in the tangle of undergrowth. At the Mansteins Bridge, the Marschbach and the Walmerbach, coming from Wallenborn, meet. And here begins a little fairy tale: "Once upon a time, there was a forester from Deudesfeld who..." built a bridge at this spot so that the farmers and water millers from the surrounding area, on their already arduous journey to the mills, would no longer be exposed to the water power of the small streams, but could cross safely. With such a blessing, the forester certainly lived happily ever after. The bridge now serves primarily as a crossing (with memories) for the local population seeking recreation. We also use this bridge and follow the Walmerbach stream back to Wallenborn. The romantic forest path is lined on one side by a wild floodplain landscape, which in summer certainly has a primeval forest feel, and on the other by a beech forest whose floor is thickly covered with moss and glows in delicate shades of green. The path winds its way into Wallenborn, and we find ourselves once again in front of the St. Sebastian Church. A short walk through the old cemetery completes today's spring tour. Conclusion: A lovely circular hike that takes us along the typical winding Eifel paths into the most remote Volcanic Eifel valleys. A lovely romantic route for a quiet and solitary afternoon. Don't miss the Brubbel, which, by the way, is NOT part of the tour, but must be visited either before or after...
