Lamballe: between nature and history

This loop begins at the Place du Champ de Foire and follows an urban route punctuated by nature, along the Gouessant River. The route alternates between alleyways, old neighborhoods, undergrowth, Natura 2000-listed moors, and landscaped riverbanks. It tells the story of Lamballe, the former capital of the Duchy of Penthièvre.

Key stops include the National Stud Farm, public wash houses, old mills, and medieval remains such as the Notre-Dame-de-Grande-Puissance Collegiate Church. The Ville Gaudu lake and the Landes de la Poterie offer quieter breaks, with typical regional flora and fauna.

The route is easily accessible and not technically difficult, but requires sturdy footwear to comfortably enjoy the dirt or sloping sections. This circuit is suitable for a half-day outing, whether with family or solo.
