Your heart rate won't stay high for long on this three-pass tour, as it's only a short hop from the village center in Andermatt to the first hairpin bends of the Oberalp Pass. Thankfully, the road flattens out the closer you get to the pass, allowing you to enjoy the view of the lake to your right.
After a photo at the pass sign, the long descent through the Surselva begins. The mountain scenery of Graubünden is truly breathtaking! Once you arrive in Disentis, the route continues to the Lukmanier Pass. A long, but never particularly steep, stretch of smooth asphalt takes you up a good 900 meters in elevation to the Ospizio at the end of the reservoir.
The second descent is also captivating in its beauty: the deeper you roll, the more Mediterranean the Blenio Valley becomes. A cappuccino in Biasca before the final section of the tour? Sounds good. Finally, you head through the Leventina to Airolo. This is where the highlight of the tour begins: the Tremola up to the Gotthard, where your legs burn but your racing bike heart rejoices.

If you want to have a sample of my mood this morning, listen to this: https://youtu.be/2ZiAx3bn5M8?feature=shared 😂🤸♀️☀️ I started early to enjoy the morning mistery of the mountains and the still quiet road to Gotthardpass. I was very surprised with the number of campers, vans, and other vehicles, as well as tents standing along the old road to the pass... The cobblestones ensured a good portion of shaking, especially while descending towards Airolo. The Tremola road is purely AMAZING! I always admire and respect the engineers who designed such roads 🤩 In Biasca, it was so hot that I didn't even feel like drinking coffee! That's an outrage!! Then I followed route number 36 towards Lukmanier Pass, which is for several kilometres independent from the main road, very quiet, narrow, and picturesque 🤩 Lukmanier is charming. It's worth being there at least once. The downhill is a blast!
Weather forecast promising much sun, available room in my fav place, and holiday on Monday were so convincing that I haven't even tried to resist 😁😁😁 The only one question arised: Which way as all are already done? 🤣 The only novelty would be... yessss! Tremola uphill 🩷🩷🩷 And the bonus intro 😁 I loved the clouds wrapping the lush green meadows in Medel Valley, the waterfalls gushing from the mountains after yesterday's rain, the empty roads, the sounds of nature, the dew drops on the grass and flowers, the misty air bluring the silhouettes of the mountains... Then, I loved the cobblestones leading to Gotthardpass, the awesome hairpins cutting into the steep slopes, the monumental walls of the surrounding mountains. 🩷 In this way, I crossed the Alps twice and did the 5th longest climb in Switzerland from Biasca to Gotthardpass: 51 km 🤩 Thinking about right and wrong, I've come to the conclusion that the most important thing is to be honest. The rest will follow 🩷
