Den Ortler im Blick: Runde um den Reschensee

Alpine panoramas, idyllic paths, and a touch of history – all of this is what this tour combines. And as a special treat, there are spectacular views of the Ortler and Lake Resia.

You start in Glurns, a charming village surrounded by ancient city walls, and follow the Via Claudia Augusta towards Laatsch. The cycle path follows a varied route along the Adige River and winds gently uphill – just before the Fürstenburg Castle, a short, steep section with a gradient of up to 16% will challenge you.

At Lake Haidersee, the cycle path winds along the enchanting lakeshore. The surface is partly finely graveled, but still easily rideable even with a road bike. A detour into the Langtauferertal valley to Melag is worthwhile – quiet, with scenic views, and a gentle climb. At the end of the road, you can refuel; the cake is sensational.

Back at Lake Resia, the view of the mighty Ortler accompanies you. After a short climb at Dörfl, you roll leisurely down to Mals – from there it’s just a stone’s throw back to Glurns.
