On Saturday I went hiking with my brother again. He had wanted to go to Lichtenklingen for a long time, so we went from Siedelsbrunn, starting at the Buddahs Weg monastery, first through the Eiterbachtal, then to Lichtenklingen, past the Steinerne Bank and over the Stiefelhöhe back to the monastery. A nice cozy round.... Schee wars🥾🚶🏽♀️🚶🏼🚶🐕🦺🌞
Today we went from Siedelsbrunn along the Lichtenklingen pilgrimage route. A really beautiful and varied tour 👌😃 with great distant views. The route runs over narrow paths to well-developed paths; it goes through the beautiful Eiterbachtal with a babbling brook and goes through great forests with some wonderful views. The paths are easy to walk on and there are many places to rest and stop for refreshments. As a tip: we parked 🅿️ near Café Morgenstern, where there are great cakes 🎂 and delicious 😋 food
Today we went from Siedelsbrunn, a district of Wald-Michelbach, down to the Eiterbachtal nature reserve, where the Eiterbach gurgled merrily. On beautiful forest paths we came to the ruins of the Lichtenklingen monastery, and from there we went up to the boot hut, which was kindly opened. A hike with a stop - what a wonderful tradition! It went back over boot height. Conclusion: Very nice hike, which shows the Odenwald as it is typical; with alternating old trees and clearings with wonderful views. In addition, the "Si 6" is perfectly signposted and the "economic route share" was limited. Despite the best hiking weather, there weren't too many people on the way.
Today, we started out from Siedelsbrunn, following the pilgrimage route and the Eiterbachtal valley. We missed a few turns along the way 🫣. But as they say, "the journey is the destination" 😀. A very beautiful route, albeit with few rest stops or benches. But the trails were great and varied 👍😀
Today, after a quiet hike through a lot of forest, I drove to Siedelsbrunn and parked at the "Buddha's Way" monastery and strolled through the monastery garden before heading through Siedelsbrunn towards Eiterbachtal. I have done this hike through Eiterbachtal so many times and I always enjoy the silence and peace. I then continued on to Lichtenklingen, a chapel ruin dedicated to St. Mary, almost across religions. Lichtenklingen, as you would expect in the legendary Odenwald, is of course also surrounded by a number of mystical stories. The fact is that monks from Lorsch monastery built the chapel on a Celtic spring sanctuary above Eiterbachtal in the 13th century and Marian pilgrimages took place there for many years. With the introduction of the Reformation, this was prohibited and the chapel was left to decay. This is where the first legend about Lichtenklingen begins: Some brave men from Abtsteinach sneaked to Lichtenklingen one night to bring the Virgin Mary statue to Abtsteinach, but it returned to Lichtenklingen three times and only the fourth time did it stay in the church in Abtsteinach, where it can still be admired today. I find the story about the "white woman" of Lichtenklingen more beautiful. She came to the charcoal burner's nearby hut every evening to lull his sick child to sleep. One night the forester was woken up by beautiful singing. He looked out of the window and saw the chapel in its old splendor, brightly lit and elves dancing around it. The forester then wanted to shoot her, but his rifle failed and his arm became stiff. The "white woman" has never appeared since then. Today, every year on the second weekend in August around the Assumption of Mary, since the early 1980s, a pilgrimage with herb blessing takes place in Lichtenklingen. I continued hiking up towards Hardberg, there are so many paths through the forest around Hardberg, I hiked some of them again today, past the old Abtsteinach quarries, took a short rest at the Steinerne Bank, now you can again see from here as far as the Eiterbachtal, as many spruce trees have been cleared, then I continued over the Stiefelhöhe to the Äswiese, here you are spoiled for choice with seven paths converging from all directions. I decided on the beautiful forest path towards the Hardberg transmitter mast. A relatively new viewing platform has been built there, from which you can see far into Rheinhessen, Mannheim/Ludwigshafen and the Palatinate Forest. Last but not least, we stopped by the Buddha again before heading back home....it was terrible 🚶🏼♀️🐕⛅️🥾
Today I hiked the trails that I usually ride on my bike.
"Time on the move" is completely wrong again - three hours would be the correct time. - Today it was a wonderful winter landscape, partly because of that it was exhausting. Overall, however, one of my favorite tours in our region. 👍🏻😀
Year-end hike from Buddha's path through the beautiful lonely Eiterbachtal to Lichtenklingen on narrow paths through the former red sandstone quarries on the Hardberg back to Siedelsbrunn. Discovered a beautiful gnome tree on the way. The weather would have been more suitable for an Easter hike. It was nice and lonely 🥾🐕🦺☀️ I wish everyone here a Happy New Year, always enough profile under the soles and always a hand's breadth of solid ground under the hiking boots 🍀
