A beautiful tour in a completely unfamiliar part of the Sauerland region. The weather was reasonably good; no rain, but very cold (+4 degrees Celsius) after the warm days at home. A constant up and down through fields and forests with beautiful views (no mountains). Winterberg is not only known for its bobsleigh track; it's also a true biker mecca. There were tons of people in the bike park, but I met almost no one on my ride.
Beautiful day, but whoever is marketing this as an MTB trail has no idea. A trekking and gravel tour with some tragic elevation losses on asphalt. The short stretch behind Neuastenberg is complete rubbish. Out of nowhere, it suddenly becomes steep, slippery and full of bushes and nettles. If I had put this together myself on Komoot, my rating would be 4/10. But as an official MTB trail, I give it 0/10.
I found this tour at Sauerland Tourismus under number 11 and I have to say, it was worth it. A good and varied route with regular refreshment stops. 🍛🍺A nice day tour.
Beautiful scenery. Just not enough trail. Enjoy more and let your eyes wander. 😃 Helga's Waffelstübchen is highly recommended and is exactly halfway along the tour.🧇🍨☕️
Almost exactly three weeks have passed since I last sat on the bike. Had to take a little forced break because my knee swelled up badly again after the last tour. After a doctor's visit, the diagnosis "bursitis", yay 💪🏼🥴 Didn't want to take any risks and make a neverending story out of it. So cool your knees and take pills. But at some point the time comes when your fingers are itching to get back on your bike, and today it was kind of there 😅 So contacted Uncle, bikes on the luggage rack and off we went towards Winterberg. A few weeks ago I saved a tour from a Komootler that I found very interesting. We started at the bike park parking lot. From there it went over the Kahler Asten through Neuastenberg, Mollseifen in the direction of Hallenberg. From Hallenberg we drove back to Winterberg via Liesen. We were really lucky with the weather. When we arrived it was sunny and there was hardly a cloud in the sky. In the course of the tour, however, the sky covered with dark clouds, but it remained dry. My conclusion for this tour: scenically really great. There were beautiful views from some spots. For the most part I didn't like the background at all. Many paths that were provided with coarse gravel, which made driving rather uncomfortable. Therefore I would only recommend the tour conditionally. We still had fun and at the end of the tour we rewarded ourselves with a delicious currywurst, which I can definitely recommend, and a cool cyclist on the "Nordhang Jause" ☺️
Panoramic tour 11 From the Bremberg car park up to the Kahler Asten, a short stop at the source of the Lenne, and then drive down the valley towards Neuastenberg. Through the forest of Mollseifen. After a few ascents and steep descents, it was a long time from the Pastorenwiese down to Hallenberg. (You shouldn't lose faith in your own brakes 😉) In Hallenberg itself there seems to be again, or still, lockdown. It went on to Liesen and Züschen. A short snack, a few huts, forests and fields further on, Winterberg was the goal again.
Very nice tour, many forest roads were unfortunately roughly gravel and the beautiful trail often washed out with deep gullies. Landscape and route were great 👍🏻
The landscape on the bare branches is beautiful, but the first descent had very coarse gravel and sometimes very thick roots. Nothing for trekking here. Beautiful Neuastenberg, partly disfigured by ugly holiday bungalows. After a climb with a beautiful, expansive view of Neuastenberg, a very dangerous descent follows. Washed out, narrow and steep gravel path... ☠️Even provided with a warning sign. The road to Mollseifen is blocked, full construction site - unfortunately we had to go through. After a few km it goes uphill, it's a bit steep again because the path is washed out again. 🥴 But from then on our tour was manageable. Great scenic views. We live beautifully in the Sauerland. ❤️ We were looking for a café in Hallenberg, but unfortunately there is only the option to sit on the busy main street. I recommend a picnic on the highest chair above Hallenberg,

Be careful, there are some very washed out, narrow and steep sections on the tour. There are even warning signs.
Mollseifen road is completely closed, you can get through, but it's difficult.
