The Hassendorfer Weir. Very impressive industrial monument. Built in the 1920s to ensure water regulation when draining the nearby bogs.

Here, not only does a wooden sofa invite you to linger, but above all you can marvel at the sculpture group "Pilger", which was created by a local group of artists and is wonderfully bizarre.

Westermoor Dunes

Highlight • Natural Monument

A rather small, flat dune field, it's nevertheless a sight to see along the way, especially since cave dwellers have dug their tunnels into the sandy ground near the trail. The flat dunes are lightly wooded or covered with heather.

The Wümme lowlands are particularly attractive because the hiking trail often takes you back to the Wümme and you can then observe its romantic course very well.

Gothard Bridge Over the Wümme

Highlight • Bridge

There is a sandy section at the bridge that also serves as a bathing beach. The Wümme widens considerably here and is therefore rather gentle and shallow.

June 12, 2022,NORDPFAD "Wümmeniederung"👍🥾🍀🌲😎
Super cool tour. I was allowed to accompany a small group on the NORDPFAD Wümmeniederung today 🥾🥾. Was very fun.

I started from home at 6:20 a.m. and hiked to the AHE via the Rotenburger train station. We continued via Sottrum to Everinghausen. On the way back I went via Hellwege and the Unterstedter weir back to Rotenburg. It rained from noon. I will hike the tour again in spring.

After I didn't go hiking during the week, the north path “Wümmeniederung” was supposed to make up for the kilometer deficit today. Specified with a length of 32.5 kilometers, I have about two more. The beginning was a bit bumpy. I started the hike in Everinghausen. First my navigation system wanted to guide me through forbidden roads, then - for …

The NORDPFAD Wümmeniederung is quite long, but it is worth walking the route in one go. The landscape is truly unique and it never gets boring. I personally can highly recommend the circular route.

At 31.5 km, the Wümmeniederung north path is the longest of the 24 designated north paths in the Rotenburg an der Wümme region. A great path with a constant change of beautiful forest, field, river valleys and crossings. Due to the conditions of the path, this path is easy to walk, the length then requires a good level of fitness …

It had been on my list for a long time, I've actually walked all the sections before, but never the entire route. And now, spontaneously, a nice hiking companion, plus what feels like the first real summer day and this NP, which is shady in many places and winds its way through the Wümme lowlands.
The start was in Hellwege …

Showing Translation

Today we started the north path Wümmeniederungen in Hellwege in cloudy weather. The worst that could happen to us was 30 kilometers in the rain. Lo and behold we had 30 kilometers in the rain. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful tour along the Wümme.
