Your round trip begins at the Amsteg Dorf bus stop. Gravel paths, asphalt and pleasant inclines warm up your legs as you ride on the left side of the valley to the village of Gurtnellen. It gets a little steeper there, but it's worth the effort, I promise!

Curve after curve, you pedal past dry meadows and alpine huts up to the Arnisee. The ever-improving view of the Uri mountains provides a distraction. Once you arrive at the wonderful mountain lake, you can relax by the crystal-clear water. If the bidon is empty from the hearty climb, the Alpenblick mountain inn will provide you with a refill.

So, enjoy the view one last time and start the descent through the forest. Rooty, stony, but also soft and flowing, the route goes down to Intschi and with a shaken grin on your face you take the Gotthardstrasse back to Amsteg.
