This route was planned by komoot.
At 10:00 a.m. we started by boat towards the border triangle. 35€ per person for single way. The woman on the boat was very friendly and explained to us exactly how to hike back, that you can drink the water at the waterfall and that you have to cross a small river in between. She gave us her phone number and Instagram name for emergencies. The boat was well filled. We sat on deck. Across the lake, past Finland's highest waterfall. After half an hour we docked and after another half hour we were at the border triangle. A yellow concrete block in the water, with signs for Finland, Sweden and Norway in the respective directions. You can reach the point via stepping stones. Then it was quite steep up and down again. A small river had to be crossed, but that wasn't a big problem. Up to the waterfall, where we took a break and filled up the water bottles. Until then, the path was very varied, we always had incredible views. And it was warm, we could go without jackets and hats, e.g. T. with the sleeves pushed up. After the waterfall, the trail continued through incredible scenery. Soon Kilpisjärvi could be seen in the distance, but it was still a long way off. At the parking lot near the starting point, we walked a bit across the road into the woods and back to our car.
