Natura 2000 area Fohramoos - Mystical moor with many interests Info/Facts The Natura 2000 protected area Fohramoos on the Bödele, right on the border between Dornbirn and Schwarzenberg, is an important area of European importance. For many years, it has been intensively used by a wide variety of interest groups. People seeking recreation, agriculture, tourism, residents, forest management, hunting and nature conservation all come together here. And despite this use, the Fohramoos has areas of very high ecological importance. The existing moor areas are not only habitats for many animal and plant species, they also form a basis for life for us humans with their so-called ecosystem services: water storage and retention, water filtration, local recreation and leisure opportunities. In addition, moors are extremely important CO2 stores. Due to this high number of functions, Vorarlberg's moors in general and the Fohramoos on the Bödele in particular are very special areas for which we have an important responsibility. Protection and conservation With a little consideration and responsible behavior, such areas can be used AND protected. It is particularly important in the Fohramoos to always stay on the designated paths and not to wander through the area on the unfortunately numerous beaten tracks. Because off the paths, the animals in this ecosystem need these retreats where they can recover without disturbance. Please also always keep dogs on a leash in the area. Tip for experiencing On a guided tour with Vorarlberg nature guides, you can experience the special features of the moors in Vorarlberg with exciting information.
It snowed in the mountains at the weekend, so it's better not to walk too far up, don't like the snow to trudge through yet. There is a fine round at the Bödele right with two very nice friends who also like it very much in the mountains. Agreed at short notice, and we already took the Fohramoos as our destination, then a nice break at lunchtime for a snack, we didn't know which hut was open at all. The dairy was closed, so we tried our luck at the Lanklift and tried the delicious soups from Lucy, who has now opened the bar there. Very nice, the young woman and the mulled cider were just right, because it was quite cool, the sun kept disappearing behind the clouds. Later we walked an unknown stretch in the direction of the Hochälpelelift, came out at the crossroads where you go to the Lustenauer Hütte. So we strolled back to the car. Great hours on the mountain without stress and good company, it was great.
On the beautiful, sunny Saturday, instead of a lack of snow, we went hiking in the Bödele. From the Bödele Langwies via the Fohramoos we went to the ski slope at the Dornbirner Hütte. Stop off and eat in the Dornbirner Hütte. Delicious Viennese soup, schnitzel and apple strudel with delicious Möhl and mango sprayed. Then it was back to Bödele Langwies.
