This route was planned by komoot.
Beautiful route, 15 km through nature. Can easily be done with a regular E-bike.
Panorama path with sand paths, gravel paths and separate cycle paths on side streets. Sometimes difficult to drive on with narrow tires.
Unfortunately, we missed a turn-off on the panoramic route in the southern part of Rømø. Rømøi is totally relaxed for cycling, but wide tires are really appropriate. Many paths are more like hiking trails.
Today the weather invited us to go on a little tour with the bikes. First to the harbor, which is always a bit busy, then through the forest to the dunes. The paths were very soft from all the rain. Small lakes had formed between the sand dunes and there was water everywhere that was lower. Then to Lakolk to see if the ruins from last year's fire had been cleared away. Now small pavilions are being built there. Then towards the main road and then of course past the church with the captain's gravestones and the old fire station.
Mostly followed Route 402 "The Captain and the Whale" but then got lost twice. Especially at the beginning very varied through forest and heath. Very pleasing to the eye.
In Lakolk, we deviated from the "Panorama Route 402" because we apparently missed the sign at the intersection. So we ended up taking the bike path along the busy road. It was okay, though!😅
From Havneby (Parkplaz) we went across the island by rental bike. The huge beach is awesome! By the way, there is a great fries stand there, with guys who have yet to find their own kind 🔝. On the way I was able to buy delicious honey from a beekeeper. For 2023 I try to post more photos.
Today we cycled all over Rømø (approx. 600 inhabitants). Our first stop was Havneby, where we enjoyed a delicious crab roll at Otto & Ani's Fisk https://g.co/kgs/7n2rD8 in the island's most famous fish shop. However, the location is not particularly cozy ... We continued on coarse gravel and partly sandy paths (which I don't particularly like) through a very beautiful dune area. Here I climbed the 18 m high Spidsbjerg 💪. Our next destination was Lakolk, where according to our guide the bear from Rømø dances. A kilometer-long dead straight road led to a place that we were very disappointed with. The street scene is characterized by a large and architecturally very boring holiday home area. There is no town center, the few shops and restaurants (more like hot dog stalls) are right next to a large car park 🙄. I wonder how people can spend their annual vacation here. Otherwise, Lakolk is known for its huge beach, which is also accessible by car. Unfortunately, we sank in with our bike 😡 and so we could only watch the many motorhomes standing by the sea from a great distance. We are simply not warming up with Denmark and will probably only end up here in the future to take the ferry to Sylt. On this occasion I will definitely go to Lakolk beach with my mobile home ...
