Continuous ascent from Baiersbronn-Obertal to the Black Forest High Road. Otherwise there are hardly any climbs worth mentioning, but instead twelve kilometers of descent to
Wolfach. Pleasant cycling in the Kinzig Valley to Haslach.

The cycle path initially runs on Rechtsmurgstraße (K 4735), before turning left at Buhlbachsaue. On good…

Trail Reviews

Norbert G.
September 27, 2023, 2.Teil E-Scooter Schwarzwaldtour, Baiersbronn über Kniebis und Zwieselberg nach Haslach im Kinzigtal

It was a demanding but beautiful tour. A few paths were almost impassable because only very coarse gravel was spread on the forest paths. There is still a lot of room for improvement in forestry.

What is the best thing about travelling by train in Germany right now? Personal growth! You train flexibility, calmness and learn to use the train app in a fun way, looking for alternative connections. You can also practice your math skills. If I check 25 minutes before the train leaves to see if it is on time (everything is still OK in the app!), then leave the house, arrive at the station 15 minutes later, the display board suddenly says it is about 30 minutes late (the train is late) and the train then comes out of the depot empty, then either the train driver suddenly had to call in sick or he overslept - it can happen! But surely that was known earlier. It becomes absurd because the delayed train leaves the station at 7:34 instead of 30 minutes later at 7:29 as announced. The next train to the delayed train is waiting 5 tracks away - same route, same destination - and instead of leaving the station on time at 7:32 as planned, it has to leave the station late at 7:38. I don't know how the "race" turned out, I chose a different route and train connection . . . . . . and instead got myself taken to Baiersbronn via Freudenstadt. The 3rd stage of the Black Forest Cycle Route . . . from the community of gourmet chefs to the city of glassblowers and in between, a lot of Black Forest! Along the young Murg and almost always in the shade, you gain altitude quite comfortably on asphalt to the Black Forest High Road. Past the refuge, the lost place Alexanderschanze (at least the weather side is now provisionally protected against further weathering!) and over the night trail 😂 during the day and without snow to Kniebis. From there it gets very lonely until the rapid descent through the Übelbach and Langenbach valleys down into the Kinzig valley! Nothing going on on the Black Forest cycle path and in parts it's very far away from any settlement. But it's nice and shady, so the heat of the day is bearable today. Before the descent down to Wolfach, there are three more steep climbs in my path, which I can only manage by pushing. I caused the second one myself, continuing straight on downhill - why didn't I look at the tree trunk 5 m up, the sign was hanging there. So I had to go back uphill a good bit. The last climb was the nastiest, thickly graveled and covered with limestone gravel - ready for rolling; but it wasn't done and therefore not rideable. Even walking was arduous. There are no great views down into the valleys on this stage. Instead, it is mostly in the shade and is therefore ideal for midsummer days. The entrance to Wolfach goes through the historic town center, which you can really enjoy. But nobody wants to linger here today, it's too hot in the Kinzig Valley.
